Blockbuster has its own PS3 bundle?
I happened to be on Ebay and noticed this….

I think it says it even comes with a HDMI cable, a Blu-Ray remote, and a Blockbuster 12 weeks subscription of some sort.
I wonder how Sony and Blockbuster stuck a deal?

Well towards the end of last yr there was a lot of aggressive ps3 blu ray promotions. If you go into some blockbusters now you see huge blu ray displays running off the PS3. This really isn’t much of a surprise to me really. This deal is probably an old deal from late last yr

I recently visited a Blockbuster for the first time since before the PS3’s launch– I had been going to Hollywood Video. Anyway, I recall while waiting in line at Blockbuster seeing boxes of what I now know to be BB’s own bundle. I was wondering what it was, but since I was in line I didn’t really get a good look at it.
.
I know that some Blockbusters have their own side store for games (just like Hollywood Video’s Game Crazy). I forget what the name of their game store is called, but I’m sure what I saw at my Blockbuster would be the same thing you would find in their game store (so the deal is just passed along to the other stores without the game store, etc…).

I’d like to see a Netflix Bundle. Maybe if the rumored Netflix deal for instant viewing movies on the PS3 comes through…

Yeah, Im an assistant store manager at Blockbuster, those bundles were introduced last year a little bit before Christmas and there was a huge emphasis to push them to please Sony because if we sold enough it was expected to create a mutual partnership with Sony. The original bundle had an 80 Gig PS3, HDMI cable, Blu Ray remote, Motorstorm, 52 week rental card, and the 5 free Blu Ray movie promotion. It retailed for $599.99. The original bundle dissapeared shortly after Christmas.
Apparently Blockbuster sold enough of those to be in Sony’s good graces as they are recieving a vastly increased amount of PS3 games copy depth as well as Blu Ray in most stores. Sony also is paying to have those Blu Ray kiosk’s installed in most Blockbuster corporate stores. Also about a month ago the newer incarnation of the bundle appeared, it retails for 499.99 and has a 40 Gig PS3, HDMI Cable, Blu Ray Remote, Transformers: The Game, Spider Man 3 (Blu Ray), and a 12 week rental card.
