There are a lot of people who are unsure on whether Sony’s next mega firmware update will include voice chat while in-game as well as the other messaging features. Well, one of our insider sources has given me some unfortunate confirmation that it is in fact not in THIS update, however it is in the works and will come later. More on this in the future, so watch this space.

Welcome to HIPHOPGAMERSHOW for the week of 6/29! Special thanks to him for his shout-out to myself and most importantly to Sev & PlayStation LifeStyle!

With all these big new exciting features coming, sometimes it’s important to know the small things which you don’t know about. One of our insider sources has informed us that the message size limit has increased significantly - meaning you can send larger files via attachments to your friends. Another improvement is that there is an increase in the amount of messages you can hold before they have to be deleted. Both of these features may be useful for people who constantly send messages between people via PSN.
Firmware 2.40 will hit PS3s worldwide July 2nd.
If I recall correctly, PlayStation LifeStyle reader OldBloodAndGuts asked when some blockbusters would be hitting Blu-Ray. I told him that I had heard 2009 would be a good year. Well, here’s a blockbuster to some, critically acclaimed by all (at least the first two) release on Blu-Ray. THE GODFATHER TRILOGY. The best part about it is that it will be here this year. September 23 will be a great day for Blu-Ray collectors. Will I be the only one picking this up? How could you seriously turn this down in 1080p and with TrueHD sound?

As soon as it hit 8 a.m. EST, the info as been flooding in. Joystiq have more info about the Trophy system. To avoid people cheating by downloading save data and claiming 100% record and a platinum trophy, you have to re-play your games to un-lock the trophies. All your games will need a patch to support trophies but don’t expect the smaller developers to bother. This and more can be found here.
The second part of the Firmware 2.40 video walkthrough is now up on the US PlayStation Blog. You’ll also be pleased to know that its release has been confirmed by the blog to be July 2nd! Only 2 days to go! The first first-party games to support trophies are… Read more »

A website called Sony-PlayStation.cz claims to have official screens for Trophies. It shows a profile page, trophies on the XMB, and how to find a persons trophies. This final screen also suggest that you will in fact be able to voice chat in-game! The other two images are below: Read more »

After a long long wait, European PS3 owners have something to look forward to: The DualShock 3 is hitting Europe! July 4th, the rumble-enabled SIXAXIS will be hitting the Europe with a RRP of a whopping £39.99 in the UK. It looks like FW 2.40 is coming much sooner than later now that we know the video walkthrough is coming tonight… Let’s hope we get it before the 4th. Now that calls for FW (Fireworks)!!
Jeff Rubenstein Writes:
“But because I know what you’re going to ask about, and because we don’t traffic in rumors and/or speculation, I invite you to come back to the Blog tonight (just shy of midnight Pacific). We’ve got a video to show you.“
“Planning 2 videos, 5 or so mins each. One for XMB features and one for Trophies. None of the previous videos has been a short as 90 seconds, just as long as it takes to show off the features and not make you sit through a lot of fluff.”
P.S. - Thanks to reader Manbearpig for the 2nd comment update

In a few short weeks’ time, Sev1512 and Chris Rah Osiris will be attending E3 in Los Angeles, CA. It is truly amazing to us that we have such an opportunity, and we will use it to bring you guys some great coverage, guaranteed.
I’ll be coordinating everything here while they’re hard at work gathering information and holding interviews.
Expect me to relay their interviews, articles, and info to you here on the blog as quickly as I can, so as to give a constant stream of entertainment.
Sev1512 wishes to thank everyone from the bottom of his heart for your continued support, because if it weren’t for the amount of readers that visit his humble blog, he wouldn’t have the opportunity of fulfilling one of his most longed-for dreams: attending E3.
So again, thanks to you, Sev now has the opportunity to fulfill a boyhood dream, and in return he will share his E3 experiences with you the whole entire way!
P.S. - In the coming 2 weeks, watch for a ‘reader questions thread’ in the forums. Sev will pick and choose which people’s queries he’ll take along with him to ask various developers during interviews.
After a so-so week of Blu-Ray releases we have a great week in store for us. Not only are there 13 releases, but there are a few that I would think most every Blu collector would like to buy. Batman: The Movie is the high def debut of the movie based on the show with Adam West. My dad loved the show, so I’ll get it for him. Vantage Point was a good movie based on what I’ve heard. Didn’t get a chance to see it. Papers get in the way of fun. However, I did see Gangs of New York and I love that movie. I will be getting that no matter what. Read more »
