Sony: Declining to Comment = Confirming?
Sony is normally quick to debunk rumors, when something is just not factual… Well Sony has still yet to debunk any of the info that we have provide you, the readers, with over the past week or two regarding FW 2.40 and the “PS3mote”
While I was confident in PlayStation LifeStyle’s exclusive insider info, seeing that Sony isnt commenting on, or debunking these rumors leads me to believe we hit the nail right on the head…
Today Eurogamer posted this statement…
“Sony has declined to comment on speculation that it is making its very own Wiimote-style controller for PS3.”
Last friday Eurogamer released this statement…
“Sony Europe has declined to comment on suggestions the latest PS3 firmware update will include the highly sought after XMB.”
Another instance of Sony not commenting on the 2.40 rumors is with Jeff Rubenstein – PlayStation Social Media Manager (Jeff, I know you’re reading this, email me, its E3 related, and I promise I wont ask about FW 2.40 
), and his non-response to the fans commenting, asking about FW 2.40

All this leads me to believe that Sony is sitting back and enjoying the free advertising and hype surrounding FW 2.40…
I dont blame them, in fact its good business. Good work Sony… We’ll keep helping we dont mind…
UPDATE:
Jeff Rubenstein has just responded about the FW 2.40 rumors and still has not debunked the rumor…

I can neither confirm nor deny that Sony declining to comment indicates that they are sort of confirming.
yeah,Jeff cant confirm ,because they need to have a official post or something.

GameSpot has also ran a story on 2.40… also [still] not receiving a comment from Sony. Normally GameSpot updates their articles after a response.. however they have yet to receive one after 3 days.

I’m always thought these rumors sounded pretty sound, and now with video evidence and even more reports coming out it seems as though it is all but confirmed up to this point.
There is one piece of conflicting evidence thus far though. Whoelse reported that approximately 70% of past games would be support trophies from from release, however others are claiming it still up to the devs to patch their games. Trophies are honestly the bigger picture for me (I don’t message on the PSN a lot).
Yeah they will need a press release first, or not for firmware updates?
Also I wonder how viable this wiimote-like controller will be if true. i’d actually like to See Sony try and put more focus on their eyetoy, but what the heck.

Lol, they knew what they were doing with that post. It was well timed. They wanted to drop the subtle confirmation and then have a megapost tomorrow, today or sometime this week.

Too funny,i’m laughing because XMB features in game like commucations with friends or trophies are here in the latest debug/test and many more sweeties with a drastic compatibilities with DivX and several others enhancements…
No worries guys…The ”retail” fw2.40 is on his way and includes the same features as a debug…
