Qore – What Can We Expect in Episode 1 (June 2008)?

06/03/2008 Written by StalkingSilence

Now that most of you have heard about Qore, the monthly gaming lifestyle program for the PLAYSTATION Network, you are probably wondering what you can expect in the first installment.

Qore

While I am not entirely sure yet (I don’t get any cool, exclusive looks at Qore to view all of the content), I was able to go out and compile some information from various media outlets to help you sort through this breaking news.

This Thursday in the June 2008 Episode (Ep. 1) of Qore, you can expect:

  • Calling All Cars [Full Game] (for annual subscribers)
  • Hidden “Easter Eggs”: Mini-game
  • Incredible Hulk exclusive 6-minute trailer
  • Secret Agent Clank exclusive preview
  • SOCOM: Confrontation upcoming beta invitation
  • SOCOM: Confrontatio theme, interviews, and videos
  • Star Wars: The Force Unleashed exclusive pages from the graphic novel
  • … and more!

All of this content can be yours for the price of $2.99!  Err… well, actually $2.99 won’t include the limited time offer for Calling All Cars.  To get that, you must sign up for the 13-episode (one year) package for $24.99.  We can expect a new episode of Qore on the first Thursday of every month.   Personally, I am most interested in the additional hidden content and exclusive beta invites.  I am also intrigued by the apparent auto-downloading of new episodes as mentioned on the blog.  I’d like to see them do this for pre-ordering PSN games in the future.

Here is the full press release:

    Nice info!
    heard anything regarding EU?
will this be region-locked so that PAL Users won’t be able to download from US PSN?

I live in Europe and own a PAL console, but would still like to get into that Socom Beta….

    SCEA reigon only for now.

Quote from the blog regarding exclusivity of demo, info:

“If you purchase Qore, you will have access to exclusive content that would not be available otherwise – it does not impact the availability of the great content found on PSN, nor does it change our free play model”

I’m considering subscribing to this. I’ll likely just purchase the first issue and subscribe for the year in the event I like the programming.
It’s an interesting venture to say the least. Can’t wait till Thursday to pick up the first episode.

  8. West Coast G Says:

I’m sold on the annual subscription, but I think I’m going to buy this one a la carte, considering I already have Cars.

  9. Phoenix8387 Says:

    @ pphheerroonn
It’s a SCEA project. and at this time it looks like it will be SCEA only.

  10. pphheerroonn Says:

I dunno they didn’t mention that it was America only one the blog but i suppose it is an American blog but usually they would mention it… Anyway I don’t think it would make a lot of sense since the new a reviews it has would apply to Europe anyway as the demos are usually the same but a week or two apart. I suppose they will use the Europe has different languages excuse though… Hopefully we get it or our own version!

Interesting to see this is getting so much negative talk about it. I realize where people MAY be a little worried that there will eventually be less content in the normal PS Store updates, but I honestly don’t think that will happen. Say EA wants to put up a demo for a game but doesn’t want to do it for free. So Sony can come along and give them a few $$ and put the demo on Qore and possibly release it on the store later on. We could then get a demo that we would have not in the first place. The downside: other publishers hear about this and they all start doing it and there goes our free content. That’s the only way any one should be worried. Which I doubt would happen.
It’s completely optional and the PSN is still free, so I really don’t see what all the fuss is about. Personally, I’m excited to be able to get into the Socom Beta so easily! I’ll probably buy the first episode and if it’s really good, buy the subscription. Otherwise I’ll just buy whichever ones are good. Not really interested in Cars..

Glad to see you got the site back up too!
