RUMOR: Industry Rumblings Regarding Resident Evil 5

By now, you may have heard about the “Major RE5 Reveal at E3″ that Videogaming247 is reporting.
Some more information has made its way to PlayStationLifeStyle.net…
Whether or not this information is true is unknown. However we felt it is our duty to give fans a heads up on a HUGE announcement that MAY be coming @ E3.
Please take this as a rumor as that’s all it is at this point. No solid information on the subject yet.
From what I have been told, Microsoft is looking to pay Capcom an undisclosed amount, for timed exclusivity of Resident Evil 5. It is still not known if Capcom has accepted the offer… The information we got, was only that Microsoft has made the offer.
If this is going to be announced it will be @ E3. Similar to the GTAIV “showing of the tattoo” a couple of years ago.
If this is true, all of you petition fanatics out there better get to work.
Remember this is just a rumor, and nothing is known for sure at this time.
Personally I am hoping that this is NOT true.
June 18, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Capcom, hopefully the money won’t sway you to do this. Well…here’s to E3
June 18, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Capcom will accept, theyre a company , they want money and
Microsoft have a lot of money …
June 18, 2008 at 4:36 pm
This is bad news. Period.
Capcom has already pretty much alienated the entire Sony fanbase this generation with their moves of refusing to port Dead Rising, Giving shoddy port of Lost Planet, Cancelling Monster Hunter 3 for PS3 to focus on the Wii, and breaking Playstation 3 exclusivity to bring Devil May Cry 4 to multi-platforms.
IF this is true then you can pretty much bet that the Sony crowd is going to be extremely upset with Capcom.
June 18, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Fersis, I know. It’s just sad though. I had so much love for Capcom through the years. However, Capcom has only abused PS3 owners so far this generation.
June 18, 2008 at 4:41 pm
Nooooooo! Say it aint so!
Damn you Microsoft and your money!
I’m so ticked off I might just have to write a letter!
June 18, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Yeah Chris , its a vey very aggresive move from MS, theyre paying a lot of money to every developer ,theyre nervoues.
But well, we are in bad luck, i doubt SONY will ever do that kind of stuff… sadly for us that is.
June 18, 2008 at 4:52 pm
Why don’t Sony simply do something about this? Why on Earth would they allow this to happen? It’s ridiculous, it’s as if they just don’t care anymore. God, I despise Microsoft.
June 18, 2008 at 4:53 pm
If true, Sony needs to make a counteroffer for it to be a permanent exclusive. lol
June 18, 2008 at 4:55 pm
They will announce that this is the FINAL biohazard game and will take place in hati.
June 18, 2008 at 5:09 pm
The sad part?I was making more Resi Evil 5 banners :’(
*Puts them on hold*
June 18, 2008 at 5:10 pm
I find this now to be disgusting
microsoft throwing money around is tiring
the gaming industry is large enough now the there should be regulations on monopolies and lobbying
Microsoft and EA are being allowed to do in the gaming industry exactly what microsoft was sued for in the computer/software industry over its monopolies and business practices…
while the gaming industry currently is bigger than the movie and music industry, it seems the government and law makers are still taking gaming for a joke by not looking into what should be illegal and unfail business practices…
June 18, 2008 at 5:14 pm
its not msoft its what i said above the game really takes place in haiti it’s set in the past (when the game ends you find out that your actually remembering these events) and the “end” happens about 15 hours into the game then you “end” the game find out your old and flashing back but then you get a strange letter from raccon city dated from 10 years eariler…. if i say anymore i might get your site shut down…..do you wnat to know how the game ends?

June 18, 2008 at 5:43 pm
This gen sux a lot…
June 18, 2008 at 5:45 pm
ok well first i was joking about the RE5 but your right you guys dont need anymore info from me.
June 18, 2008 at 6:17 pm
Assuming this is true - I find this tactic completely disgraceful.
In fact, if this happens I would intentionally wait for the PS3 version. Besides, Capcom would then have time to tweak the game even further and even add extra content for the PS3 version.
The PS2 version of Resi 4 had more content than the GC, after Nintendo had a timed exclusive. PlayStation owners could get the same reward again.
(Yes, I realise this content was later put in the Wii version).
June 18, 2008 at 6:21 pm
“Fake, just like your so called “insider” PS3 firmware debute on 10th. Stop polluting N4G!”
Are you retarded? Everything Sev said was true…in-game xmb, trophies. Wth are you talking about? it’s fake? Sev said that it could be delayed due to bugs. Then guess what, devs on neogaf said there is bugs in the code that need to be worked out. Shut your n00b ross mon.
June 18, 2008 at 6:25 pm
wait a minute he used sev as a name to post that ?

June 18, 2008 at 6:41 pm
@……………………………….
Yeah dude no problem with you, the 10th was a very logical date, but on software development a couple of bugs can delay a release.
Hey sev, the false sev was banned right ? he deserved it.

Whether or not it matters the PS3 version of DMC4 is about 160k ahead of it’s 360 counterpart, like it or not multi-plat games that were previously exclusive still sell better on the PS3 so they may say no thanks to Microsoft. Taking a timed exclusive deal with them would severely dampen there audience on Playstation(i.e. if Lost Planet was released at the same time the PS3 version would have outsold the 360 version), if this is true it absolutely reeks of desperation on Microsofts part and wouldn’t hold over well in any community. I don’t doubt that the offer is true, however in Capcom’s business interests it would be foolish, SquareEnix will inevitably be the best and most prime example once Last Remnant and Star Ocean fail to meet projections. This practice won’t continue much longer because it will no longer be lucrative for publishers, hence the reason that the PS3 made more money for EA last year than anyone else.

@ fersis…
I put the fake Sev under spam, but I have decided to take him out, and make a fool out of him instead…
@Sev2151

“Hi,
I am a huge PS fan, I was wondering if there is any opening in
blogging in your site? I am a long time blogger and hardcore gamer, I
have a blog at gamespot.com for ages, I also been a blogger of
XMBonline.net , until the site ended drastically…. I was the only
one in the site who created 2 featured editorials. One talking about
“Why MGS is a special game for anyone to review correctly” and another
one talking about the “Potential control in installation of PS3
games”. Although I am not one of those blind fanboys that blindly
supports the brand, I criticize the company when need be. I can post
impo news to in the site regularly, unless unavoidable circumstances,
like exams. So if you have any opening, or if in the future there is
an opening, please lemme know.
Thanks”
June 18, 2008 at 7:24 pm
Also @ adnan.ahmed or Sev2151 or whoever you are.
I have contacted your boss, over at XMBonline.com and told him about the situation.
XMBonline will be coming off our blogroll this instant, and you are to blame for it. I dont think you will be working there much longer considering you just ruined a very good business contact for XMBonline…
Congrats on making an ass out of yourself.

June 18, 2008 at 9:10 pm
It’s actually Sony who’s been talking with Capcom about exclusivity agreements…
June 18, 2008 at 9:13 pm
Daang sev don’t play around… lol
i personally think that MS always puts its eggs in the wrong basket look at the dlc on gta4… worthless…
I know that a lot of you may disagree but imo i think that Res5 doesn’t even look that good and the videos that i’ve seen look not that great as well.
It might be another gta4, just hype but not a good game.
Either way people forget that ps3 is not at 5 million units sold it’s at 14.. MS would have to come up with a pretty big number to make up for the lack of sales.. and ruin whatever is left of respect from the pstation users..
June 18, 2008 at 9:41 pm
@ Rob R. MS- do you have any proof for that? So Sony and Microsoft are both fighting over timed exclusivity of Resi 5?
It would make Sony just as bad as Microsoft to be honest. It’s best for everyone if both versions come out at the same time, that way no-one misses out.

Who cares if the Playstation 3 has games or not. Just like Sony said from the beginning: “Even if the PS3 has no games available, there are still fans of the Playstation brand who will buy the system.” PS3 may not be the best game system (since it has the smallest library of games this generation–and has ZERO games in certain genres, such as Real-Time Strategy), and it may not be the best Blu-ray player (since movies are played at 60hz), but I and others like me will always be loyal to Playstation because that is what I got here in jail. ALL HAIL SONY! ALL HAIL PLAYSTATION!

But it’s ok, you keep believing all them 360 fanboys out there ok
June 19, 2008 at 1:59 am
I am glad I have an Xbox 360. I thought it was weird that all this time, Gamestop has only had Resi 5 listed for the 360. Maybe they knew all along.
June 19, 2008 at 2:27 am
Hope it ain’t true but however we have MGS4 and that my friends, is the best entertainment experience ever created once you’ve played through.
June 19, 2008 at 3:00 am
Probably true, a few notes however.
MS has had a clear record of securing 3rd party exclusives. Bioshock being probably the most notable. As a business decision this would be huge for them and Capcom and Microsoft have been hand and hand this generation.
Gamestop only has the 360 SKU listed. The only SKU shown to date has been the 360 version.
An open thread at Capcom all day has not been answered on this very rumor. The no comment approach really says more than words.
This rumor could certainly be looked at as spectacular and desperate by some( or very smart business by others). As an earlier E3 rumor pointed to this week. If that rumor is the same as this one it may mean MS could secure this timed exclusive with a release this holiday season. This would be HUGE.
This looks very much in the bag and E3 would certainly be the place to make this Megaton.
P.S. Bish would hate this as would many.
This is the E3 Megaton

Go Microsoft. It’s about time you got in on this deal a little!
July 23, 2008 at 12:33 am
I hope its multiplatform, its just pointless to have exclusives to just one system. It doenst make sense buisness wise to only have it for one system that there basically only gonna make 30% of what they would of got if they put it on wii, 360, 3 (resident evil any computer would suck).
