Scheduled PLAYSTATION®Network Maintenance June 24th – FW 2.40?

The PLAYSTATION®Network will be taken offline during the following times for a scheduled maintenance:
Starting on June 24, 2008, at 8:00 a.m., Pacific Time
Ending on June 24, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., Pacific Time
During this time, access to the PLAYSTATION Network will be restricted, including:
- No access to the PLAYSTATION®Store
- No access to play online games on the PLAYSTATION Network

Does this mean Firmware 2.40 is nigh? One can only hope!

Quite often a firmware update follows a PSN downtime so we can only hope.
Just remember, there is always the possibility that its ONLY scheduled maintenance.
The story was mainly to alert people of scheduled maintenance.
We are just asking the question on everyone’s mind.

It will be no more than a simple maintance, No updates or anything like that will happen.
Hey remember when 2.0 was coming out? Everything was so messed up. The store was down and everytime I went to play a game I would be signed out. 2.0 was a big update and 2.40 might be even bigger. There is some hope for tomorrow but not holding my breath
It would be typical that 2.40 comes when I’m away. Anyway, getting my hopes up a bit, but I would be surprised if it comes tomorrow as I believe Sony would have said something by now if it was to come out tomorrow. What a sentence I just wrote:p
Doubt it. IIRC, there’s maintenance around this time every week or at least every few weeks. Though, this one is a bit longer than the others that I can remember.
Could we see 2.40 afterword? Possibly, but this by no means guarantees anything.
BTW, look at the date tomorrow. June ->24<- as in 2.40. It would be a grate date to release it.
About the June 10th posts they had, they spesificly said that nothing was set in stone, so I disagree with you on that part.
we still have no 2.4 video on the blog like we did with the PS store (they always hype big updates a week before)
I think is coming with E3….is too big of a feature to just throw it out, they can get a lot of media attention by releasing at E3.

Good call, I agree that it would be an interesting business move, maybe a price cut. I heard that a new sku is coming out, it could be a 40gb DS3 pack though.
There is an article out in the Playstation World/Universe that has a new update patch for HOME v0.9.4.2 and at the same time that HOME gets the new update they are moving the HOME code to servers that will host it when it is released to the public in the fall and the increase for the “Closed” Beta… And if you follow the features of HOME it would be reasonable to have the same features that the 2.40 update will bring to the games side be used for the HOME user interface, since HOME will end up being the visual/virtual replacement for the XMB that we currently use to access functions and features of the PlayStation Network.
Most people treat HOME like a game to be played when in fact it is an interface that will make the PlayStation experience light years ahead of the other box’s current networking features… but we need to wait and see instead of flaming each other when we say something different that what we ASS-U-ME (assume) will happen…
Sony maybe including the 2.40 code in the maintenance tomorrow but leave it NON-functional until they are ready to release it …remember that computers will ignore statements in code that have special characters as the first space ie ~…

PS3 Fanboy’s Blog said that it was just regularly schedualed maintanence and had nothing to do with any Firmware update. thought i’d pass that info on. = )
Sure that the maintenance isn’t for nothing…With a major firmware update,always there is a huge maintenance…
The 2.40 is going to be unveilled just after that maintenance guys…

I doubt there will be a price cut announced at E3. Maybe Holiday 08 at the earliest. New SKU good possibility.

PS3 Fanboy (…no disrespect intended to PlayStation Life style, just passing news along as i hear it… ) has updated their article saying…

I don’t know what confirmation they got saying this UPDATE, cause they don’t state any source.
Unless they know something and are just saying that to cover them legally! hehe oh well SONY has taught me not to get my hopes up… even though i did when i first read this.
I still be checking ASAP once PSN comes back up… you know, just in case.

2:23 CENTRAL HERE, and seeing as my PS3 is supposed 2 b off right now… i dont think they did a maintenance of it… did anybodys PS3 go offline?
