List of Features Available In-Game W/ FW 2.40

Computerandvideogames is reporting this list of features available in-game once FW 2.40:
- Friend category
- View, send, receive messages
- Manage downloads
- Set the vibration feature of the controller
- Sign in to PlayStation Network
- Register friends
- Manage Bluetooth devices
- Terminate the game
- Music category
- Use the system BGM
- Work the system BGM operation panel
- Settings category
- Assign controllers
- View profiles
- Game category
- Set audio devices
- Use the voice changer
As previously reported the update will also allow you to play back your own tunes in-game from the XMB Music column. It’s unclear whether this feature will be compatible with all games or just new titles created with more recent development tools.

What would “Register Friends” be?
Messaging is the only reason I really want it. Music is nice for some games, but others I definitely wouldnt use it… COD, Resistance, etc.

I know this is all gd stuff, but why is there no mention of private chat?
Not to be picky or tht, but I’m really hoping that it makes it into the update
Does anyone know if this is jst an ommision, taken for granted etc?
Still, whatever happens, playing my playststion is gonna be so much better than it already is come 2.40, which is
frankly mind-boggling lol!!

Oh, hell yeah! I didn’t see anything about recharging while in standby, nor about using the PS3Eye to operate the XMB.
Any new info about the launch date?

I still wonder if 2.40 will allow gross game chatting you know, while a game you pop up your XMB scroll over to Friends and start a Voice Chat session while in a game. Thats all I really need. Make it happen Sony! lolz

Too bad. But, yeah, dude. I got MGS4 on day one (not midnight, though LOL). I saw you online last night I think, but I was assed out by that time. I’ll message you the next time I see you on.
