PSN Friends List limit Now Over 50! [UPDATE]
Very often I have to delete my friends off my Friends List to add new ones because of the limit of 50, but just recently I have noticed I haven’t had this problem. Then one of my friends messaged me saying they just counted their total friends and they have over 50. I didn’t believe it and I simply assumed he had also counted himself, or he was a bad counter.
So I tried this myself and I was surprised to find a total of 55 friends. I had to do this three times and I came with the same figure every time. Has Sony secretly increased the limit and if so, when? This most probably happened either with the 2.36 update or the recent PSN maintenance.
UPDATE: It seems we have multiple sources confirming that the limit on the friends list is now 100!

Odd ,they add features that people want but they dont say anything about it.
I have like 15-20 friends, and i almost never play anything with them :p

I read the same thing under the ‘failed’ at n4g.com. Thats good because Im at 47 or something so now I dont have to start deleting soon!
I cant believe they didnt release it somewhere though…

BTW, my PSN is Pesico if someone want to “use” me to test the new limit:p Just mention PLS or something in the request.

The limit was never a problem for me. I only add people to my list that are my friends in real life, not some random dude I played COD4 with one time. But this is good for everyone who wanted this it seemed like a lot of PS3 owners wanted this.

100 seems like a natural step, a round number and all that. But I can’t imagine having 100 on my PSN list. It’s a lot of users.

Things are really starting to change, by the end E3 the PS3 will really feel a lot different. It really is becoming a multi-media center. I noticed on one of the articles that hancock will be realeased early to bravia owners connected to the network, I wonder if the PS3 will be given the same type of early service. Music download service is also a nice thing to hear about. Looks like I really need to upgrade my HDD.

It definitely wasn’t the firmware update, because just three days ago I had to delete some people to make room for my buddies who just got PS3s.. Might’ve been the maintenance, though.

Just a quick note. Although the XMB friend’s list is 100, word is that games that support the FL in game (ie. Warhawk) are only recognizing 50 friends, not all 100.

Here’s a question will this new FL increase the size of the Players Met list??? Since it is part of the friends list??? PLus is it easier to delete Players in that list, currently you have to add to block list then delete from there, it would be nice to just add that to the triangle options menu under friends…but I can wait…
