Its “great” that Sony is offering a “Greatest Hits” collection for the PlayStation 3. This way all of the new and future PS3 owners don’t have to miss out on some of the console’s best previously released games.
The games pictured above are easily some of my favorite games this generation of consoles, and I personally own all three and would recommend to anyone who doesn’t own these games to seriously consider picking them up at their newly reduced prices.
No word yet if these “Greatest Hits” have made their way onto retailer shelves.

I never got Motorstorm. I may pick it up to prep me for Motorstorm 2.

I haven’t gotten Motorstorm either, but intend to now with the GH collection and the coming release of MS2.
As a small note, I work in Video Game retail and we haven’t received these in yet. It’s possible it was going to be an E3 announcement.

Thanks for the heads-up Phoenix.

I wonder how they will price the greatest hits versions?
July 12th, 2008 at 3:01 PM
I own none of the games shown above except for resistance. I got resistance and 2 other 50 dollar games with a 60 gig PS3 and a mem card adapater for 615 dollars after tax a year ago… so I’m not to worried about having paid virtually no money for Resistance. It was a buy 2 get 1 free deal and trade in value for my PS2 and some accessories (not games) that I would have no use for anymore… so essentially I made out like bandit. Especially getting a PS2 slim for 30 dollars just a few months ago.
With Warhawk that low I hope the Digital downloads will compete in price if not i might have to buy the disk version.

I personally see the prices going for $30 as I don’t think the previously standard $20 for GH titles will cut it with higher development costs.
Also as far as Warhawk goes, its VERY likely that the digital copy will be lowered to the same price that the GH titles will go for.

IF they added Uncharted, then I would have gone for it.

And on a small note, if these are indeed what the GH titles will look like color me impressed. I wasn’t a big far on the EU and JP looks, but the red case really makes them look pretty damn cool. I might actually buy some from this collection this generation as opposed to looking for non GH boxes as I did with the PS2.

This is why I go to your site before going to PS3 fanboy. PS3 fanboy has more information, but it’s more bogged down with stuff that’s just kinda interesting rather than “ZOMG THIS SHATTERED MY WORLD VIEW” that I get from you guys with some of this information. You guys generally have information before them and often times they’re just repeating what other people have said. I enjoy the overall content and feel of your site better and love the fact that the information isn’t constantly getting washed down the page by FLOODS of gossip. So it’s easier to keep track of interesting reads on your site because it’s more focused.
I love that about you guys and I just want to tell you guys to keep up the good work I like how this site is handled.

At least it is not yellow labeling like in Japan.

Thank you MakaiSenki, we appreciate comments like that. We are careful to choose which information we post. We intentionally leave some stuff out as to separate ourselves from other sites on the net.

Gah, Motorstorm. I honestly will never understand the fuss over that damn game.
Still, this might be incentive to finally pick up Warhawk, even if I have to import it; I don’t suppose anyone knows anything about a European version of Greatest Hits (i.e. “Platinum”) for the PS3?
July 12th, 2008 at 7:42 PM
@MayfairUK
There has been word of the Platinum range being released in the Fall, however there has not been word on which titles would be featured however.

Uh… Second from the right, bottom row. Is that SOCOM? I think so. Interesting…
July 12th, 2008 at 8:36 PM
If the entire case is a translucent red then its pretty cool looking. At least they didn’t go the cheap route and just have the artwork include the greatest hits logo.

@OldBloodAndGuts
Bottom row is PSP titles.
Figures the first batch of 3 PS3 GH titles are all games I already own. I wouldn’t mind seeing Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, or Folklore hit GH though. Although I might be able to get those just as cheap if I actually looked around for them.
