Further details on the new PS3 Bundle

We have dug up some further details on the new PS3 bundle coming in September. It’s called the 80GB Core Pack and it will be an upgrade to the 40GB PS3 (therefore no Backwards compatibility with PS2 titles and no card slots) with double the hard drive, and include a DualShock 3!
According to GamesIndustry.biz, sources have indicated them that Sony Europe boss David Reeves is due to announce that the 80GB PlayStation 3 will be released in Europe shortly. They expect the announcement to come at tonight’s SCEE’s European press event.

Why a lot of people so wrapped up in BC. If you want that then get the $499 bundle…it has the extra graphics hardware needed to make the PS2 games better looking… It probably takes a lot of memory to make a virtual EE chip on the Cell. I have seen a lot of virtual PC stuff and it don’t compare to having the hardware to work with the software… look at all the PC emulators that were out and how slow they work…
Just hold on to your PS2 or get a new slim and move on…

I find it funny that Sony used their 40″ xbr4’s (look at all those LCD’s next to Jack) instead of the up and coming 40″ XBR6, I say this b/c I got a 37″xbr6 the other day and it looks way better than the XBR4. The XBR6 series was debuted at CES 08′ which makes it weird that they wouldn’t show it off along with the PS3 at E3 08′. Last year Sony could not stop talking about hooking your PS3 up to a bravia, especially Kaz and his Riiiiidge Raaaaacer!

I would not be surprised if Sony capitalizes on this and sells DLC to enable BC this fall. They could charge $20 and people would buy it. Remember its not free on 360 you it’s required to have the HDD, memory cards do not support BC on the 360.
