Final: PlayTV coming September 10th in the UK

In a yet to be published interview with Eurogamer, David Reeves from SCEE has given a date for PlayTV. It will launch around Europe between September and December starting with the UK on September the 10th. He also confirmed it WILL allow you to record while playing a game, and that this was enabled added in 2.41. Austrailia and New Zealand will get it January or February. It has previously been reported to cost €99 (around £70).

I think PlayTV is the reason why, PAL region wont be getting the PS Video Store.
BTW, whoelse, I hope you dont mind a trip to Germany. We were talking to Guerrilla about getting PSLS into Liepzig

“In a yet to be published interview with Eurogamer that is yet to be published…” You don’t say? :p
I really wish we could have PlayTV in the US. But with so much cooperate legal crap I think it’s basically impossible to pull something like that off over here without a LOT of work.

I want PlayTV for US! I wana record stuff.
July 18, 2008 at 10:43 am
It cant come to the US because of the unique siqnal it uses which is not avaialable in the US and is currrently only available in some parts of Europe as well as other places. Its called DVB-T or Freeview in the UK.

So freakin’ cool! Going to import it from our British friends in the west.
I think it’s available in almost every European country.
@jimb: Some unique signal? Haha

Repost from the site I originally said this on.
“I hope when the US goes digital we get some sort of unified channel line up/info guide so we can MAYBE get PlayTV here. Out of everything coming to the PS3 this is the most desirable feature I can want.
I know the EU feels like they have gotten the short end of the stick at times with things like no Video store yet, the occasional pushed game release date & things like Qore…but I would GLADLY give all of that up just to have PlayTV available over here. I can only imagine having access to any show that is on live broadcast or recorded on my PS3’s HD to be able to be viewed on my PSP.
You guys don’t know how lucky you are, and REALLY can’t complain! lol.”

Oner. Us in Europe can complain.. for the Simple Factor of we hardly ever get anything, Some PSN games (well Most) are delayed for months over here.. And when they finally do arive they are almost double the price of the same Game off the US store.. Also your Store gets updated with 71 items last week i think someone said.. the UK store got.. 24 =/ so We can complain
July 19, 2008 at 3:37 pm
I could understand that….but personally I would still trade PlayTV’s service over some old ported games, a few new PSN type games & content that would be available on the net anyway!
