Gran Turismo 5 may not arrive till 2010… what!

Joystiq managed to have a small chat with Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi. The Polygony Digital explained that the stuido is focusing most of their time on Prologue and adding cars, tracks, and features. He said that an new update is planned for the near future. Further, the full game may not arrive till 2010, followed by the PSP version which currently is in developement. Here are the top features we would love to see in GT5P:
- Car Damage
- Private Online races plus Invites
- Trophy Support
- Custom Soundtracks

Yeah I hope trophies will be implemented into GT5P.
That’d make a lot of sense and get me playing again.

I’m glad to see Polygony Digital is treating GT5P more like a full game rather than an expensive demo. Hopefully we’ll see Trophies and many other features added within due time.

Interesting the dev team told me summer 09′ in the chat that was conducted on the official playstation forums a few months back

With just these 3 features alone I think us GT fans will be MORE than happy until GT5 releases.
# Car Damage
# Private Online races plus Invites
# Trophy Support
I am sure we can expect these plus in game music access as well as a very few additional tracks & new vehicles…especially since Ferrari has the new California up on THEIR OWN SITE being driven in GT5P ~ proof http://www.ferraricalifornia.com/webapp/

With Oner’s three features they could call the game complete and release it fall ‘08 for the Christmas Holiday…but I think alot depends on Sony’s rollout schedule. It seems that SCEI/J have more to say about what releases than the dev’s since they controll the hardware and FW updates that might be needed for some of this.
Like Private races with Invites would mean that they might have to change a small setting in the FW code to get this to work, because right now those who have that feature in other games are having trouble with it…especially the wireless mic situation…
And Trophies need to be added to any game releasing within 3 months of the FW update…but that is a club that SONY has to use…

I guess the game of this magnitude (By far the photorealistic racing game) takes hell lot time to develop.

From my experience with GT2 and GT4, the GT5 must be great if you can
bear that lot of inertia…
