If you are surprised by this, then you’re not the only one. This information is straight from Eurogamer and the EA financial report. I have come across many “boycott EA” threads in my time and I am starting to think that these boycotts are nothing more than hate threads written by a poster, or they have done little to affect the PS3′s impact on EA’s income.
EA has recently made promises to ensure that the PS3 version of games will be on par with the respective 360 releases. These promises were made prior to the release of the financials for this ongoing year. Hopefully this will not only cause EA to stand by these promises, but will show other developers that the PS3 has a viable consumer base that is still growing.
Wow. I stopped playing EA’s “games” for a good year now. I’m shocked to hear this news as I, too, have seen numerous “Boycott EA” threads on the Underground.
Actually I’m not suprised much by this, although if thats the case and PS3 is EA’s biggest source of Income then maybe they should take a hard long look at that when making the PS3 games. I don’t think I’ll ever buy another EA game again.
I will buy an EA game if the company puts the type of effort behind it that will warrant a purchase. I’m going to try the Madden Demo tomorrow. If I enjoy it, I’ll buy the game. If I do not, I will not buy the game. I will be honest and say that unlike some developers where I’ll blindly buy a game from them, EA may never get that type of patronage from me.
Yeah maybe if they put the type of effort behind it like they do with the 360, I might.
I was shocked about this one myself. I haven’t bought an EA game in about 5 years. Criterian, however, seems determined to end this boycott, and I already told them on the PlayStation.Blog that it’s going to work.
Yeah I would have thought maybe Sony as a whole since EA develops for PSP and PS2 still. But wow.
Maybe b/c Microsoft charges the developer to run servers on XBL (do they?) and Sony has the developers run their own servers.
I have no idea.
Hey gang. Just wanted to give kudos to you all at PlayStation Lifestyle. I run a couple less popular blogs here on WordPress and am always looking for new WP content, but have never come across you before. You guys, admittedly, do it better than my PS3 site. Not trying to plug, just lettin you know. I’ve blogrolled you on both mine. Keep doing what you do, gents, and i’ll keep reading.

it’s good to see you guys are still constanly posting news. seems not much has changed and a better relationship with developers means better information and more
and now other deelopers need to open their eyes, the ps3 can get the job done, mgs4 proved that
Well, can’t say it’s too unexpected. Our system does Folding @ Home for 40 hours straight while theirs RROD after about 10 hours of NOT using it to it’s fullest capacity.
Our system came with a 1 year warranty out of the box, while the 360′s originally had a 3 month warranty which a lot more people had to use.
If you have a reliable system and don’t have to spend money to play games online, and don’t play as many games online, you’re going to be buying more games. It’s not that our online games aren’t good, as many of them will surpass the 360′s… It’s just that most PS3 users don’t like to use a headset to go “OMFG I PWNED YO N00B A$$” *proceeds to teabag again and again and again and again while I.Q. slowly diminishes to the average I.Q. of an ordinary house shoe*
EA booked 71 million in deferred revenue for the PS3.
Non-GAAP
xbox 360 = 81 million
PS3 = 68 million
I’m surprised by this simply because it’s well know that the attach rate for the 360 is significantly better than for the PS3. I wonder how they’re making all that money.
