This is gaming, there are so many memorable moments, which is why we keep coming back.

I started gaming with Atari, then NES, and since then I have owned every major console to be released other than the Xbox 360.  So needless to say I have countless memorable moments.

Here are 10 moments that really stand out…

Beating Emerald & Ruby Weapon was an accomplishment I would never forget

Seeing my mother play Wii Sports Boxing, and realizing Nintendo actually made gaming accessible to everyone.

Not just Double Dragon, but any of the old 2 player games, Streets of Rage, Battletoads, etc. Gaming with my brother is one of my favorite gaming memories

    Nice …

  3. stalkingsilence Says:

Ever play “Battletoads & Double Dragon” – it will melt your face.

Also, I remember playing all kinds of weird games with my brothers like Snake, Rattle & Roll.

  4. claass21 Says:

Double Dragon! Those were the days!

  5. KnaveX Says:

Moving my controller across the floor in 2008= Bringing priceless memories back! Go MGS4! The rumble is back!

  6. OldBloodAndGuts Says:

The Konami Code… ahhh, 8-bit Contra. That would make for another good remake, like Bionic Commando Rearmed.

  7. nick Says:

    I like the PS3 a lot!

Moderator: Edited for extreme fanboyism. Although we love our supporters…we like to keep a “non-extreme” point of view around here. Continue loving PlayStation in a decent way, and we’ll stand behind you for sure! =)

  8. stalkingsilence Says:

    Who invited nick here?

Nick, we are all PS fans but that kind of post/attitude doesn’t help the cause, brother. Plus it’s not really related to the post. Watch out or you will be marked as a SPAMMER.

  9. era88 Says:

Contra,Battletoads,Ninja Turtles, and Double Dragon. If not for those moments in gaming history taken with my brothers and friends. I would not be a gamer. Great read sev. Damn great read.

  10. Skhan Says:

    umm nick..
    NO.
    okay?
lol im still a young gamer so i havent experienced most of these.. i was born into a gaming family and ps1 was the 1st system i touched ‘96 :)
but i got told never to touch it again :(

  11. BigPete7978 Says:

    @Nick
Don’t be a fanboy, that’s never good. Every console is out there for a reason. While the 360 has a problem hardware wise, they have a hell of a library behind them. Which is the reason I own one along with my PS3.

  12. Skhan Says:

and as you can see people like these kinds of post.. for the things i saw (MGS4 one and the Wii sports one, i felt those memorable moments to :)

  13. Real Says:

My most favorite moment is still PONG!

My mother was quite high tech, but our family didn’t had much money. Yet, we found pong under the Christmas tree. One zillions hours played. Dang, never made so many friends that year ; )

  14. Manbearpig Says:

Ugh…Spoilers!! I’m playing Final Fantasy VI for the first time and am enjoying it a lot.

Don’t worry, I don’t mind boss spoilers like that. I usually read ahead in the strategy guides anyway to see what kind of bosses I’m going to have to face.

  15. Glericus Says:

Wish you would add the EVO 2004 Justin vs Daigo Street Fighter moment as a honorable mention , if im allowed to post youtube link, here it is.

  16. LinuxGuru Says:

Glericus, these are personal favorites lists. They’re not open to additions or changes.

    =)

  17. Gil Says:

Emerald and Ruby weapon… oh so satisfying to defeat them. I’m so sad that my 3rd party memory card took a $#!t on me and lost all of my lvl 99 characters… I’ve never touched FF7 since :(

  18. naturalywrong Says:

Yeah, i remember streets of rage back in the day, the way the baddies would fly in the air in a perfect horizontal line.

I loved playing it with my brother, and the boss’ were ridiculous, remember the mafia guy at the end? Great stuff.

  19. SteveNYG Says:

Good moments all around. My personal favorite was finally beating Mike Tyson in Punch Out!! It took countless retrys and a new remote(don’t ask), but it was worth it. I even grabbed my mothers camera and snapped a picture just to have proof to show my friends lol.

  20. claass21 Says:

    Store is updated.

  21. Giacomito Says:

wow, you beat emerald and ruby?

you have now earned my complete respect as a gamer.

    That is an accomplishment indeed.

I just have up after 20 + hours of leveling up materia. :P

  23. caliman87 Says:

Playing God of WAR for the first time amazed me how good a ps2 game could be

  24. sev1512 Says:

    Giacomito,
I have 100% completion in every Final Fantasy I ever played. But I skipped FFIX, and XII

If I LOVE a game, I play the crap out of it.

Like with MGS4, I just had to get the Big Boss Emblem.

  25. Manbearpig Says:

    @sev1512

FFIX and XII were two of my favorites out of all of the Final Fantasy games. The stories in both games were amazing. You should give them a shot if you ever get the chance.

In fact, I’m going to have to revisit IX once I finish VI. It’s been over four years since I’ve played it and is sure to bring back memories.

  26. Art dream Says:

  27. Art dream Says:

But cant wait for Linger in shadows When I saw it the first time I was left speechless.I hope that Santa Monica makes more interactive gaming art like Linger in shadows in the future.

  28. Art dream Says:

  30. Frank Says:

It’s sad when you start talking about Mortal Kombat with a 12 year old and they ask “What’s that?” Good to see I’m not the only one who isn’t getting old and still remembering great gaming moments.
