I wonder if she plays video games.

Where is My Gaming Girl?

The decision to focus on the lifestyle aspects of Playstation and the individuals that own the console prompted an interesting conversation between myself and Sev1512. If you have spent any time on the forums, you’d know that I’ve been single for the past 5 years. Sev says that I am just married to work and school. I think he may be right. The truth of that statement does not change the fact that I am the only author on PSLS that is single. So….this caused me to think about the prospect of finding a girl that loves gaming, Playstation in particular, as much as I do. Here’s a checklist of some of the characteristics and interests that I hope she has:

  • She doesn’t have to be a Crash Bandicoot fan, but please tell me that you played Super Mario Bros.
  • You didn’t have to own both a Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo. You did have to at least play one of them. (People that haven’t played those consoles seem to forget that there are such things as great games without online capabilities)
  • Like a game in a genre or two. It is fun to play fighting games or sports games. However, the idea of a shooter, PixelJunk Eden, or PixelJunk Monsters with your special someone sounds so intriguing. (Yes, I purposefully did not say SSHD. That is only because that is a given. My girl must play SSHD)
  • She doesn’t have to love Metal Gear Solid. She only has to respect it for the wonder that the series is.
  • She has to love Miyamoto and Crazy Ken as much as I do. We owe them so much.
  • Oh yea, she can’t hate JRPGs. I wouldn’t be able to survive a household or a relationship that will deny me White Knight Chronicles, FF XIII, or Versus XIII.

That list doesn’t seem too demanding. Now where should I look for someone with these qualities? As much as I love the site and the forums, I’ve yet to see one girl ID herself. Sad. We’ll have to work on that. Lol. The official Playstation Forums supposedly have a few, but I’m not really into that whole Internet dating scene. So…yea.

Looks like I’ll have to find a girl in the industry. Lol

All jokes aside. I hope you enjoyed this little break from the typical news. You got to see a little more of my playful side, as if I hadn’t shown it already. Also, we addressed an issue that is currently relevant to gaming. Where are all of the female gamers? I certainly would like to know.

  2. sev1512 says:

My wife isnt a gamer per say, but she did play the crap out of Super Mario Bros 3 back in the day, as well as a few other NES games.

She plays casual games, loves the Wii.

Her favorite game was Kingdom Hearts and the sequel.

Other games she enjoyed was FFX, and any of the Metal Gear Solid games. She likes a story line.

  3. You lucky man. I wonder what M likes?

  4. SpeedRacer55 says:

How about Miss Belmount from Qore??? saw her on an episode of DL.tv and she likes some games. Not a bad place to start if she is single???

  5. MakaiOokami says:

I’ve been single for a year and a half and I don’t even have any real requirements. I’d gladly give up much of my gaming if only I had someone to tell me how much I mattered to them.

  6. I wouldn’t let gaming get in the way of a relationship. Oddly enough, every girl that I’ve dated would play video games with me. Talk about having it good.

  7. EvoAnubis says:

Chris, I don’t know where you’re going to find one of those, but when you do, pick me up one of those too, 10 sliders from White Castle, a 4×4 with no onions from In N Out Burger, a case of Monster, and some whip cream (don’t ask).

  8. You want to marry Morgan Webb huh, hell she was in FHM!

  9. HeRo says:

hahaha, Good luck with that imaginare girl! =D (just kidding)
Girls like this don’t exist… It’s like find a unicorn! hahahah
    I wish i have one of these…
Well man, good luck with your life, hope you be happy with any girl…

PS: My english sux, im from brazil =P

  10. Cat says:

I’ll go with the unicorn thing but not the we “don’t exist” bit! Like I tell my gamer friends, you get to choose who you marry – so you can choose a gamer girl. ;)

  11. drudog says:

Uh…Chris? Looks like one of ‘em made themselves known…

  12. -David- says:

    @sev1512
You sure are a lucky guy!! haha
that would be Chris’s ideal girl

  13. sev1512 says:

    LOL @ David.

I was only kidding, Veronica isn’t mine. I met her at E3.

I am happily married. With a baby on the way!

  14. LinuxGuru says:

Hey hey hey, it’s catastrophe from n4g!

    Glad to see you here!
    :)

  15. sev1512 says:

Yep, thanks for visiting us Cat.

  16. claass21 says:

    @ Sev
Is that really you in the pic?

  17. -David- says:

    @sev1512
I know, i know that you are married (read your “profile” article lol) i was just jking.
    And congratulations for your baby!:D

  18. LinuxGuru says:

    Dang, veronica is reallllllly cute!

    Stupid prior engagements, I have…*cough*

  19. Giacomito says:

yeah, where ARE the gaming chicks.

I had sort of luck a few months ago, a girl added me on MSN and on PSN, wanting to play som COD with me, I was like. Hell yeah a gamer-chick.
saw pics of her too, looked really cute.

Then came the dagger, she has a boyfriend and has had for a long time.

so I lost all my hopes on ever finding a hot, gamerchick.

right now, I’ll just settle for a hot chick

  20. Phair says:

My wife is a Sony Fangirl, she loves Sony so much and hates Microsoft and uses Linux.

  21. Fersis says:

I dont have touched a girl on the last 3 years.
Maybe next year i will start searching for a girlfriend, but i dont think that she has to be a gamer.
But it would be cool to play PJ Monsters and Eden with a girlfriend..
    mhmhmhm not bad at all.

Oh and sev, again congratulations for your ‘little piece of heaven’ on the way !

  22. Voyou San says:

good luck… i found a girl that likes to game but more importantly likes to watch me game. that girl will sit for hours and watch me play. Its nice

  23. BluDiE says:

There are gamer chicks, they are just all mad at Sony for Fat Princess, hahaha!

  24. Cat says:

hey, guys, thanks for the welcome! And really, if you guys want a gamer chick, she’ll be glad to have you. You think it’s awkward being a guy gamer with a non-gaming girl, try to imagine being a girl gamer with a non-gaming guy!

  25. Makidian says:

My wife fits all of those requirements, I’d let you have her but she’d probably divorce me. I can stay single as long as I have some kind of companionship with a female that may or may not include, gratuitous sex, but that’s just me. Come to think about it, I don’t think I have ever had a girl that had a problem with me playing games, my wife knows that when a Final Fantasy hits you have to pry me away from my controller and a fight may or may not ensue. Best of luck, it’s all about being in the right place at the right time so you may want to troll your game stores, bound to find a keeper there

  26. Sandy says:

We are out there guys…you just have to know where to look and keep your eyes open. I met my DH on Everquest almost 7 years ago…

I have to say though I wish my DH liked Playstation more, he is more into PC games. :-( But, in his defense he did go buy an XBox just so we could play Halo together…So, that is something anyway. :-D

  27. emptymindedgirl says:

Super Mario Bros 3 — greatest game ever.
    World of Warcraft — addict.
Playstation 3 — I only play Star Wars Battlefront (ps2) on it.

I know countless couples that have met via online gaming.
Like Sandy said, “We are out there guys…you just have to know where to look and keep your eyes open.”

  28. Kurtie says:

if your from new york then we can play with my magicthegathering cards and gaming consoles :)

the name is kurt but im not gay hehe.im female hehe

  29. Whimsy says:

And you say we don’t exist. Silly silly man. I actually work at a GameStop. Currently single, not really looking for a relationship (just posting for morale support).

Definitely troll the gaming and comicbook stores. You’d be really surprised at what you might find. My friends and I are HUGE nerds/gamers, but nobody thinks that we are because we don’t fit a stereotype. DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE!

  30. A big shout out to all the female visitors on the site due to Chris’ post. Hope you women stick around and contribute. All these dudes make it stuffy in here.

Also, Chris – here’s a girl for you. I know you have a pic with the bionic arm also: http://pcmedia.ign.com/pc/image/article/895/895550/bionic-commando-rearmed-20080731021604150.jpg

  31. Rock says:

There are tons of gaming girls in Japan.

I suggest interviewing Jade Raymond and asking for her number “in case something comes up”. That “something” probably would come up DURING the interview… if you know what I mean. ^_^

Usually most gaming girls love FF series, KH series, MMORPGs, Ragnarok Online, Maple Story, etc.
