Keypad Attachment for the DS3 and SixAxis

Written by Chris Rah Osiris

A wireless keypad was announced for the DS3 and SixAxis during the Sony Press Conference. This should come in handy with all of the in-game messages that you are probably receiving these days. The attachment will connect via the USB port at the top of your controller. There will also be “touchpad” mode. Shortcut buttons for your message box and friends list are also provided. Thank goodness. I like the convenience that provides.

I’m getting one. Are you?

Whoah, hadn’t seen this pic yet. Seems awkward since it will be weighted differently (depending on DS3 or SIXAXIS). Hm…

Very interesting. I was high considering getting the Logitech diNovo Mini for a few weeks now but I didn’t like the idea of repeatedly having to swap my controller for the keyboard. I think I might just have to pick this up! I’m just hoping the attachment doesn’t significantly increase the weight of DS3.

This looks like a nice addition. Short-cut keys are a huge plus. I’m sold on it too!

I have a small keyboard that I can just put next to me and use when needed. I’m fine with that for now.

Same here. My USB keyboard works just fine. I do like the way the attachment looks, but honestly, I think it would interfere with my index fingers idle position (L1 & R1).

Looks nice, I migth get it if is cheap

Price is big factor but it should not be $150. I would guess in the $39.99 range or maybe the same price as the old sixaxxis controller $49.99. I will consider it after HOME and Life with Playstation are launched.

  14. devonthedude Says:

Awesome, I’m sold as long as it’s reasonable. I would assume it would be a good price since they have to go against Microsoft’s messenger kit @ $30

Pfft who needs to communicate when u can play games instead…

  16. Traxxer911 Says:

All we need now is a browser upgrade to effectively browse the internet lol.
