SCEE Announces New Hardware UPDATE

So sexy

So sexy

The PSP-3000 has been announced. It was the first announcement made. The PSP-3000, also known as the Slim and Lite. It will have a built-in mic and a new LCD screen. The new screen will improve the color display and reduce glare. (I’m sold). This will be released first in Europe on October 15th.

David Reeves has also announced a 160GB PS3. It will be released on Halloween. No word on a release in other territories at this time. PS3fanboy is reporting that the 160GB PS3 will not have PS2 BC.

UPDATE

The 160GB PS3 will come with Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, a voucher for Pain, and a DualShock 3. It will function exactly like the newly announced/released 80GB PS3. That means no PS2 BC. You do get twice the HDD space. It will retail for $499.99

The PSP-3000 will come with a 4GB memory stick pro duo or the Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters entertainment pack. 4GB is a lot of space. (I’m buying this model even though I recently purchased a PSP-2000. I’m giving it to…you guessed it, my brother). These packs will still cost $199.99 and eventually you will be able to purchase the PSP-3000 hardware alone for $169.99.

Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters Entertainment Pack

  • Mystic Silver PSP-3000
  • Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters
  • National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets
  • echochrome PSN voucher
  • 1 GB Memory Stick Pro Duo

4GB Entertainment Pack

  • Piano Black PSP-3000
  • 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo
  • Everyday Shooter PSN Voucher

  2. SpeedRacer55 Says:

Well that sounds encouraging for those of us that have 80gb with software BC and card readers. Hope they keep the 4 USB ports?

damit i hate this they come out with a new psp and know mine is obselite f f f but either way im sticking with my 60g ps3

  4. buzz_kill Says:

The 80gb was going to be the only system at first, so maybe now it’s gonna be only the 80gb and the 160gb.

I know, i just bought the madden PSP too. But oh well, these features aren’t THAT attractive to me.

  6. stalkingsilence Says:

Notice they changed the HOME button to a “PS” button. Maybe they’ll add in-game XMB by the time this releases.

Well I guess I’m finally going to be jumping on the wagon. I’m not pleased with the fact that the memory pack has a voucher for Everyday Shooter… I already bought it when it was released >.<

  9. stalkingsilence Says:

    @Gil,
FALSE. You did not already buy “Everyday Shooter” for PSP. It’s not out yet. ;)

Also, Calling All Cars is being considered for PSP remake.

  10. devonthedude Says:

Doesn’t really sound worth upgrading. Does it have better battery life, or is it just a mic and better screen, that’s not worth upgrading for (unless we get upgrade vouchers), relative to upgrading from the original model to the slim (there were much more features compared to the original model).

  11. Gil Says:

o.O are you telling me that they are going to have a PSP version of Everyday Shooter!? If that’s true then I’ll be sound as a pound baby!

  12. devonthedude Says:

“This will be released first in Europe on October 15th.”

This is shocking, this the first time any Playstation console has been released outside of Japan first.

  13. devonthedude Says:

    @Gil

I see an SCE game being released with a PSP pack before a 3rd party game (Everyday Shooter is an SCE game but it was originally on PC before PS3), it’s more likely SSHD since that was announced at E3 and it’s from SCE

YAY!!! i had a PSP-1000 since Christmas 2006 and i didn’t get a PSP-2000, and the new PSP-3000 is coming with a 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo? and a newer model of PSP?! i am definitely getting it!!! but i don’t think i’ll be getting it until my birthday February 13, i plan on getting an HDTV too, and an iPhone…hopefully!

  15. devonthedude Says:

    @ lilj_j15

    Damn you must be ballin’

  16. TheRookie45 Says:

This is a day one buy for me. I have the origional PSP I got on launch day and the PSP-2000 I got in spring ‘08. I must now complete the collection.

  17. stalkingsilence Says:

Looky what I found: “Further expanding PSP’s entertainment capabilities, the video-out port is also expanded to output gameplay in interlace format, which will allow new PSP users to enjoy games on non-progressive TVs by using separately sold cables. With the current “slim and light” PSP, games can be displayed on progressive TVs only.”

  18. MATT Says:

Probably gonna get it ;) i have a big fat psp, sounds great!
