The fans have requested it. Sony has promised it. Now we are seeing this come to fruition. Playstation Network cards are now available at a few locations. The Playstation fanbase would like to see them available in places other than military stores and gas stations. Your wish is coming true. Pamida, Speedway, and Meijer are already selling PSN cards. Blockbuster and 7-Eleven will be joining the party in September. Now you don’t have to worry about the safety of your credit card number.
Sony, we are most pleased with this news. As are the several individuals that have been unable to make purchases due to the lack of a credit card. (I’m looking at you underage gamers. I’m happy for you). Looking forward to hearing stories of September spending sprees.

No need for this (lovin the CC) but I guess if I didn’t use a credit card, that would limit my drunken SingStar purchases.. Maybe this is a good idea?

Blockbuster and 7-eleven? niceee…
My ps3 doesn’t accept my normal debit/credit card and the one that really is I don’t use it for the direct deposit from my work so I have to charge the card everytime I want to use it and it’s a pain.

It’ll be nice to see them at Blockbuster, that’s for sure. I’m a big Blockbuster fan. It’ll also be great once Gamestop and EB start carrying them.

I’m like “SomeonePR” in that my debit card doesn’t work and for some reason my wife’s CC doesn’t work. I remember when I first got my PS3 and tried using my Visa debit card. I called Sony and after calling them several times over the course of 3 weeks I FINALLY got someone on the phone that broke the news to me that debit cards aren’t accepted and probably wouldn’t be.
Anyway, this’ll be good for me until I can get my debt down (I cut up the CC’s I had).

2 things,
1: will there be a tax charge for buying the cards? seems stupid if we have to pay extra. think about it… you buy a $20 card, it costs you 21.40 (at 7%) … or a $50 card and it costs you 53.50… but it is only good for 20 or 50 respectively. Thats a problem to me.
2: I heard you need a CC attached to your PSN account to use the PSN cards… even if you never intend to use the CC. is that true?

1.Maybe, maybe not. But it’s safe to assume there will be tax added to the transaction. I honestly don’t see anything wrong with it… It’s a convenient alternative to putting my CC info at risk of being stolen. And it’s only natural to bet the state will tax the sales of these cards.
2. No. Not true.

well, I wouldnt pay an ATM fee of 2 bucks to get a withdrawal, I wouldnt give someone 53 bucks for change of a 50, so why would I do it with a PSN card?
Seems to me that it is better to buy a gift CC… they dont charge extra for that and it will still work with the PSN.
thanks for the info though.

hey, jim the psn cards are Pre-paid CC it can be used for any store but it will be 100% working for PSN also using PSN Cards (Pre-paid) when buying something from PS Store it wont charge tax because it’s not an official credit card it’s just a pre-paid u pay for it at the store and there.simple as that then u can buy whatever you want
