What exactly does this mean? A possible SOCOM “space”? Game launching from Home? There are many things we could speculate about, but only one thing is for sure…
@Weapon20x
This seems to be happening to a lot of people. It could have something to do with 2.50, but if you leave it alone (roughly 10 mins is what I hear) you’ll earn yourself a progress bar that jumps to around 70%. I cannot confirm this as I don’t have the game myself yet.
I purchased the game tonight from a local Best Buy. I had trouble getting the install file to work but I restarted my PS3 and did it again and just let it sit. I’d say 10-15 minutes and it was done so it does work. Not sure what the issue was or why it takes so long, you may not even have to restart your PS3, I just tried it.
I was also able to play a lag free game on Frostfire without dling the 2.5 firmware update. Good purchase for me
That was one of the first things I noticed when I picked up Socom today. This may explain why the game has no way to locate friends in-game without sending them a message to ask what server they are on. Maybe Sony is trying to push the “In-Home” invite system, which is fine by me. It takes a little more time to invite through Home, but the end result is, that the players all end up together. That might be the Invite In Game part, because otherwise, the only invite you’ll get, is a standard text message right now.
I’m curious if some of these issues with installs and stuff have to do with the 2.5 release not being out until now. I will be getting this on my way home so I will find out for sure.
It takes a long time for the install to initialize and show a progress bar. I thought about resetting the PS3 and starting over, but after about 5 to 10 minutes the install started showing progress. I think it’s just a slow install. Be prepared for a BIG patch after the install though (400-500 Mb).
Hey, does anyone know when Socom is released In Europe, it was meant to be three days afterthe American release, or the 17th, but I was going to preorder mine from Game, but that still shows that its release date is next month. Can anyone confirm anything for me? All replies much appericated
@bainyyyy I believe there was a list of Sony official releases yesterday. Can not rememeber where I seen it maybe N4G. IT said Nov. 28th for Socom. Sorry I can not be more specific I am at work and have limited internet access.
No probz, mate, thanks, but don’t u think it sounds really f***** stupid that it comes out in Europe nearly a month and a half after the North American release, or is it just me…

I wonder (and hope) that Home means 3D trophies too, but planeation area, and launching games is necessary for an online game.

Just got it, the game froze 5 times within 2.5 hours of play, I am annoyed by great length considering the game-play is awesome.

Installing takes longer then usual, and update doesn’t even move. So annoying. Somebody fix this mess.
