Again, in order to get more trophies, they need to add content. Having the Movie Studio may add 4 or so trophies, but a character addition to the game may also add a trophy too. The fact of the matter is, it would be the same if you had bought everything at once and all the trophies were as is. You feel slighted because you actually believe the nonsense a few non fans have been slinging online.
Your active in the community? not for nothing, my name is on the board… cant say I’ve seen yours before. Not to mention, there are plenty of people who go there just to trash Travis. They bring nothing to the table short of more senseless whining about how they dont like the game, the formula of DLC, the DLC itself, the cost of DLC, the trophies, how the trophies pertain to the game and the DLC, the difficulty of acquiring the trophies… and more.
People like yourself who are “active in the community” and yet have nothing positive to offer, People who join fan sites and bash the thing the community is there for, people who think that somehow they are owed a debt by the creators of their entertainment; piss me off. why? because it is due to people like you that we had to wait longer (albeit a week) for the AP. It was in the bag and a bunch of whiners who thought they should be able to breeze through the trophies did their thing and got the game delayed so they wouldnt have to actually learn to play the game. The thing is, those of us who are actually fans of the game waited a year for the update and a few jerks who probably wouldnt have played if they didnt get the free offer from Sony caused us to wait longer.
I can assume to know your angle, because you used these fancy things called words. Words… if you didnt know, clearly spell out what your opinion is, where you are coming from and which side you belong to on the issues you speak. My words make it clear that I am a fan of the game, the makers of the game and I support all their efforts. Your words make it clear that you played the game, been to a message board in the past year and you expect “free and easy” to come out of the pockets of the people who work hard for your support.

As for your question, Do i think it would be fair to purchase a new character for GTA4 in order to gain an additional trophy… yes. Even if the requirement for the trophy was to beat the whole game over again… I dont see the flaw. New content = more trophy points for the game = more trophies available for us to earn, thats the formula. If a 99 cent character isnt worth the extra trophy for you… dont buy it, but dont bitch because the rest of us are happy with that option. The bottom line is, you dont HAVE to buy all of the Pain DLC to get trophies… you just need to do so to get all of the trophies. It is actually more fair than GTA4 because with GTA4 you need to buy the WHOLE game to get all the trophies. Go ahead to your local store where you buy games and ask them if you can buy just a 3rd of the game with all the trophy support… see if they dont laugh you out the door.

BTW, if you were really active in the Pain message board, you’d know that while the Movie Studio and a couple characters are going to cost a few bucks… there is going to be a few things for free. Buzz for example is a free character that comes with the MS. Travis also promised a few other (unnamed as of yet) free items as part of the new content. Lets also not forget all the past FREE stuff they gave us.

Please don’t assume you know the angle I am coming from. And if you understood my opinion a little deeper – not a requirement, but definitely a nice prerequisite before insulting me – you would know that I’ve been active in the PAIN community since day 1, engage in dialogue with the developers, and enjoy breaking PAIN news to the community.

Couldn’t they just add new trophies with the Movie Lot Level that don’t require purchasing new characters? You are already paying for the level, the aesthetics don’t reflect additonal gameplay and shouldn’t provide for additional trophies.

If you disagree with me, would you agree with this statement:
– If female main character was made playable in GTA IV via DLC, a good trophy would be to require people to beat the game over again using the female character.

Personally, I think that statement is ridiculous and you’re not awarding players for completing gaming feats (these could be completed with any character as none of the characters have different abilities/features), you are just awarding people who buy everything you have to offer.

But if you still like the game and you plan to buy all of the new DLC, good for you and good for them. Apparently they have pleased their target market – people who are already fans of the series. I just would have thought by bringing in cross-genre characters, they’d be trying to attract new customers, not just retain the already loyal.

I am sick of the crying about how some trophies require DLC. hey stupid, to get the extra trophies in the game for us, they needed to add content thats how it works… do you really expect them to put in all that work for free too?
for that matter why dont you bitch about the other game trophies that you need to buy the game to obtain? You dont get Rock Band2, LBP, or other game trophies unless you buy the game. Considering the cost of those game vs the cost of Pain with the new content, your getting off cheap when you aim for the Pain trophies. Would it stop your ignorant crying if Idol Minds just made a disk based game and charged us $60 bucks? Personally I think it is amazing that they can not only offer us new content, but also add more trophies to go along with the new challenges.
But I guess I am a rare breed… a gamer who actually appreciates the companies who put years of their lives in the games they create.

Curious question, now that the Movie Studio was delayed I wonder if the trophies will stay the same? Travis said (on the Pain blog)
“With the Hollywood Studio expansion we had quite a few content inclusions. The Hoff was one of them but we actually had more to announce. We believed that we would have the clearance to release this content and proceeded with our final QA clearances. We were through format and ready to deploy when legal issues about this content came up.
We were trying to get all the content/ legal issues squared away so that we could release and we held out even until yesterday. Unfortunately, we couldn’t clear all our issues in time to deploy worldwide on Thursday.
So what are we doing?
We are removing the content (that you haven’t seen yet since it hasn’t been announced) and developing a patch for this content so that when/if we are allowed to go forward we will be able to do this seamlessly.”

I dont know which content didnt get cleared in time, but if any of it was part of the new trophy stuff (eg the street fighter character) wouldn’t that affect the trophies?
