Firmware 2.53 is Now Live
Written by T3mpr1x

New update now live!
The latest PS3 firmware update from Sony is now available. It’s a small update as indicated by its version, 2.53. This particular update adds the following capabilities to the web browser’s flash player:
- Full-screen mode playability
- Live movie (using RTMP format) playability
Hopefully this means full-screen YouTube, Vimeo, etc.!

How are you supposed to make the videos fullscreen? I ran some flash videos on different sites and other than the default browser zoom there was no full screen option. Also it seems with this update flash playback is jerkier. Anyone else experiencing similar problems?
I haven’t tested it out yet, David. I’m hoping others can chime in.
I’m looking forward to any *hidden* firmware updates, but I think we’ll probably be void of those this time around.
Sweet! I just updated to 2.53 and now I can watch movies and Tv on IMDB’s Hulu video player. Now the majority of video players on Internet Movie DataBase is compatible with my PS3!
@David, I think it depends on the flash player. I tested YouTube and it worked with no issues. Didn’t notice jerkiness, but I never really used it before anyway.
ugh….y did i update it??? now im stuck with the brick system problem…doesnt read/load any disc…just the top right corner loading icon keeps goin on and on….heeeeellllllpppppp meeeeeeee!!!!!
