PlayStation®Network Maintenance: Offline for 4 Hours on December 16 [Update]

This just in – the PlayStation Network will be down for four and a half hours tomorrow. I wonder if this is related to new content for Home or something entirely different. [Update: It is not something entirely different. When PSLS asked for more info, we were assured that this is just regular maintenance, and we shouldn't expect any massive PSN overhauls or new firmware. Sorry!]
The PlayStation®Network will be taken offline for maintenance on December 16, 2008 from 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM PST. We apologize for any inconvenience.During this time you may:
- Not be able to access the PlayStation®Store
- Not be able to play online games
- See a maintenance page when attempting to access the PlayStation Network

Probably nothing major, but taking downtime around the busy holiday season – I would think it’s something good.
4 and a half hours it’s EXPECTED to go down…And knowing Sony, it will go down for around 6hours if we are lucky
Hopefully when it’s back there will be a surprise but I guess it’s just to ‘flush and upgrade’ PS servers to handle HOME better.
yeah that’d be nice. Luckily I’ll be at work and won’t be affected. Wait, did I just say luckily I’ll be at work? I guess during these tough economic times, it is lucky. Check ya later.
I am hoping for more Home content and some server fixes for Home. The ability to have multiple PSN IDs logged in at once would be most appreciated.
It’s probably relating to the problems with Home. As masteratt said, to ‘flush and upgrade’ the servers. That should hopefully fix the multiple network errors with Home atm.
Thanks for the heads up. I’d have probably gotten all worked up about it tomorrow.
Even though I could be online during that time I know that if it will make things a little better for those little whiners on Home then it will be a good thing. Might even bring better game launching for more games than WarHawk…

just got “the connection with playstation netwerk timed out. what’s up with that
Dunno… this is nothing major though. Talked with someone at Sony and it’s really just scheduled maintenance.
