PSLS Contest: New Year, New Banners [UPDATE]

The New Year is upon us! 2009 will hopefully bring good tidings to us all, and if there’s change, we hope for the best kind.
As a part of PSLS’ entering into 2009, we are having a site banner contest.
Here are the simple rules:
- The image must be 760 pixels wide X 200 pixels high @ 72 dpi
- Image must be in either jpg, gif, or png format
- Use common sense. Nothing offensive in any way please.
- Image must include the words “PlayStation LifeStyle” in some way, shape, or form
- Image must have 5-pixel-thick light-grey bottom border to fit with our wordpress theme
- Contest ends January 31st
You may submit banners to pics@playstationlifestyle.net, or you may register with our forums @ http://gaminglifestyle.net and submit your banner(s) to this thread HERE.

This sounds cool, but do you have to have an American account for this?
Hmm… I’ll join this contest.
I actually contacted someone from the site (can’t recall now) several months ago about building a banner for the site but thanks to work, school, wife & kids and trying to get both my car and my wife’s car back on the road — as well as other graphic art projects and trying to find time to hop on my PS3 to earn some trophies or get the crapped kicked out of me online in CoD4 or SSFIIHDRemix — I got sidetracked.
But this is much better. Hopefully I can find time to submit some work for this contest and win me a $20 PSN card (nice).

as in banner, you mean the Text at the very top of the Website, and not some form of advert, correct?

Its a banner, site header… whatever you want to call it. It’s the image at the very top of every page.

OMG! My computer sucks so bad that I can’t even watch a DVD or anything. Let me just explain how bad my computer is:
192MB RAM with less than 30MB all the time.
8GB HDD with less than 300MB free.
CD Drive that is broke, and notice I said CD Drive.
Floppy Disk drive broke, and notice I said Floppy Disk, who uses that…
And Windows 2000.
This was a Christmas present from my uncle in 2005 and as of now and before, I am fed up with this used computer.
But if anyone wants to see everything my hopefully future HP laptop will have, give me your email address and I’ll send you the personal customization I made it.
Looks like I’m finished before I even got the chance to start. I’m just overwhelmed with planning my trip to Kauai… I’m just working myself to the bone for extra cash and I’m running around, too, finding that extra work. Like this morning, I painted three rooms for my neighbor and I gotta go back tomorrow morning and slap on the second coats before I clean and organize her garage. Then on Monday, after I get off from my regular job, I’m going in to my new short-term part-time job to wait tables on a double shift at my cousin’s restaurant 18 miles away from my house. I’ll finally get a break, though, when I get to Hawaii. I’ll take my PS3 there with me, but I’m not so sure I’m going to get much gaming in while I’m there (for obvious reasons).
Looking forward to reviewing the submissions!

It means that we ask you to include a 5 pixel light-grey line at the bottom of your submissions.

I’m not 100% sure, but I do believe multiple submissions are allowed.
is there any preferred theme? I know the website is formated with black background, grey outline with grey and orange text. Should we stick to the color styling of the current banner?

While you are free to go outside our theme, it’s probably best to stick with something that would work in our current theme.
I’m sure we could tag on a 5-pixel thick grey line at the bottom if you are having trouble…
Multiple submissions are MORE than welcome, they are encouraged.
As far as themes go…
We like banners that match specific games.
Example would be a Heavy Rain banner, or a inFamous theme, or even a Killzone2 theme.
Basically any game coming out in 09′ we would love to see a banner for.
Also a heads up. We are looking for someone willing to create banners for us on a semi-regular basis. We are willing to pay, or give PSN cards/games in exchange for banner work. Just something to keep in mind. It would be good to impress us.

I’ve created quite a bit of custom covers at vgboxart.com – the link’s up there. I still have to upload most of my own artwork at deviantart too, but I’ve been too lazy lately, LOL.
But after I finish a couple more of my art projects for school, I think I’ll give this a shot. (though I think I could only make time for only one design) Cheers!

MCX is owner of http://digitalxtreme.com they are super talented, and are the ones that actually submitted that Killzone 2 theme that Linux pointed out a couple comments above this one.
MCX was going to do some business cards for me for E3, but I got sidetracked.
