According to this poorly translated web page, it has been announced that Namco Bandai’s PSP sim game The Idol Master SP, will offer some kind of connectivity with PlayStation Home.

From what we can make out from the article it seems that during your play-through of Idol Master SP, you unlock “rewards” for use in Home.  It also looks as though Home will import avatars from Idol Master judging from the picture after the jump…

Japanese School Girls FTW!

This is a step in the right direction, and hopefully we will see a lot more PSP/Home integration in the future.

That is very interesting.. I mean if they can do that, they can enable trophies on PSP games as well.. I’m surprised the later hasn’t been done yet..

  2. Cruiz Dwyer Says:

This is actually a very neat idea from Namco.

However I would really love Sony to add HOME to the PSP.

Not everyone who has a PS3 has a PSP and vive versa… this would actually add more ppl to what is a social networking tool.

    @ Cruiz Dwyer
Home on the PSP? Ouch… I mean, do you really think something like that would even be possible? Home already has enough slowdown, bugs and issues as is on the PS3. Even when factoring in an extremely scaled down version of Home, I still don’t believe the PSP (or its wireless) could handle Home.
Keep those hopes for the PSP2 however.

I’d like to see SOME kind of use of the PSP with home. Maybe as a virtual *cough* PDA?

  7. StalkingSilence Says:

This means there is some kind of PSP PSN ID login that runs DURING gameplay. Currently, I was only aware of the login that occurs when going to PSP Store or Account Management. This seems like a persistent login connection or at least something that is triggered from within the game.

    On a related note,
Maybe the removal of the virtual PSP from within Home and move to a strict menu system was to prepare for future Home access from the PSP. Imagine using Home from PSP and the menus were… another PSP? Just a thought.

    This. Is. Awesome.

I already got the Idolmaster rewards in Home.

That translation is off. You don’t need a PSP to get the rewards pictured. The game is just advertised within Playstation Home Japan. And the rewards are from a group of Idolmaster-themed soda can dispensers within Playstation Home Japan.

In Home Japan, in the namco-bandai arcade area, there is a small area for Idolmaster. A video advertising the game is on the wall. And along a wall are Idolmaster soda machines. Each machines gives out one of four items that you see in the picture. A pair of boots, skirt, jacketandtop (one item), and a halloween-style mask you wear over your face. You go up to a machine, a roulette wheel spins, and usually you get…NOTHING. But a few times you get a big Idolmaster soda can for your apartment in Home. Sometimes you get a 3-pack of small idolmaster soda cans. And very very rarely, you will get one of the clothing items from that picture above.

No purchase required except of course the PS3.
