Trophies May Snake their way into MGS4 & MGO
Recently Brandon Laurino of Konami Online revealed some information about the MGO SCENE expansion pack on the PlayStation.blog. The post lit up with comments about the Konami ID and the lack of trophies for Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Online. Brandon replied in an interesting tone that suggests trophies are still on the table.
Hi all – I’m jumping in to post some responses to the questions and comments here. First, to clear up some discussion about the PS Wallet / Store – SCENE will be available to purchase using your PS Wallet (the funds you have on PSN), but will not be available for purchase / download through the PS Store. So, basically, it’s another payment option (along with PayPal) available through the in-game / MGO store. Hopefully, this will help those of you who have had issues with payment in the past, and generally make it easier to get this content. On the subject of MGS4/MGO trophies and Konami ID – we hear you. We have been circulating these issues internally, and we will report back as soon as we are able. With regards to “cheaters”, it’s a battle every online game must face, and we have been working on addressing the specific “cheats” you have detailed, so please stay tuned. Also, we have been aggressively wielding the “banhammer”, and every genuine video/photo/or other evidence of cheating you can send us at support@konami.com really helps us tackle this. This falls short of a confirmation, but certainly breathes new life into the glaring omission of trophies from MGS4 and MGO. Both games are well suited for a trophy patch and it’s long overdue.

Man I really dislike how Konami has been addressing the MGS4 fanbase, I mean having their own servers for MGO instead of spending a bit more money to use PS3′s, which are superior to theirs. And not putting things up on the store? Come on!
I feel ya KnaveX. It’s rather dissapointing to me to see how they handle their franchises. No trophy additions to Devil May Cry 4, Warhawk seems to do just fine with the PSN store as well as with their own servers, heck the P2P stuff works great too often enough, Killzone 2 is working great P2P, I don’t see why they are so stubborn and want to use their own inferior stuff.. O_o Only thing I can think of is if they end up multiplatforming the game they wouldn’t be stuck with Sony’s rules… but how likely is that?
All I have to say is, GTA IV took a long time to do trophies. MGS4 is a game that I knew would support trophies eventually 1 way or the other. I held off buying the game simply because I knew I’d be playing the game over and over again to get the trophies.
I think the issues they have with bugs, glitches, hacks, cheats, etc.. is what is causing all the delay and the lack of trophy support thus far. I could be wrong, but… I’ve waited this long I’m not in a hurry.
Oh ya the second reason I waited for MGS4 was to get an HD t.v.
MGO is a fun online experience but could have been a million times better if they would have just gone through the PSN. I know plenty of people who will not touch the online because of the whole konami ID bullshit.
On the topic of trophies, i think they def. need to do it. Look how it boosted sales of Uncharted when they went back and patched trophies. It would do the same for MGS4 and those who for some unknown have not picked it up yet.
I agree with the server issue, but I still love me some MGO! Trophies would be nice, I thouth we would of had them a long time ago.

I really don’t understand why more game developers don’t go back a create trophies for games. I imagine it’s pretty simple and seeing how people love trophies, it would probably boost sales of a game by a bit.
now ill get to go back and play mgs4 for my……i think 11th time
I don’t understand Konami and Kojima for not bringing trophies. I finished the game but I haven’t try to obtain all the medal because I don’t see any reward to do it. Please Konami bing the trophies to this masterpiece.

I have been waiting fir this game to hit the greatest hits list and get trophies before I purchase. Sounds like it wont be long now. =)
The new expansion pack looks awesome. But it’s pricey if you ask me… BUT I sure hope they include trophies in the game sometime this year. It’ll give me huge incentive to go through the story again, otherwise I personally will never touch it again.
Please KONAMI include trophies!!!!!
I was going to buy the SCENE exp pack regardless of trophy support, and with this news I only want the pack even more now.
I hope this is true. Killzone 2 MP is taking up a lot of my time and the first laggy months of MGO left me bitter but I couldn’t say no to MGS4 trophies!

I haven’t picked up MGS4 yet and the reason is because they always seem to eventually come out with a substance version and I don’t want to buy the game twice again so I wait for the substance version.
I wish all games would include trophie support espically some of the bigger franchises such as Devil May Cry 4, Metal Gear Solid 4,Assassins Creed, Motorstorm,Ninja Gaiden,Folklore,Darkness,Stranglehold etc etc etc… So many to name.
I also don’t think it would take that long to add and it confuses me why they don’t just do it. I bet if every company that made games for the PS3 stopped what they were doing and added trophies to their back catalog of games that didn’t have any trophies we would have trophies for every game on PS3 within 1 month. Of course I could be wrong but it isn’t like they have to rename the trophies just give them the same name as the achievements for the 360. All they have to do is have 1 team of artists working on the pictures and 1 team programing the trophies so they pop up at the right time.
What would make it super simple for them is if Sony made a program for developers with a simple user interface that would work with all their games so they could just add the picture, put a title on it and then the programer would put the code in to trigger the event . After all that was done the program would compile the info into a file that could be added into a patch. Come on Sony make it happen!!!
Trophies should have been patched a long time ago, at to all high profile games. Their absence is still a mystery. I’m still waiting for the Oblivion and Ninja Gaiden: Sigma trophy patches.
This would be good news. I’d definitely replay the game if it got trophies. This should have been done long ago though.
