According to a thread on the Psyonix forums, users have been experiencing a PSN sign out bug, while playing Psyonix’s Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. Many users have asked the development staff there for assistance with this problem.
Psyonix-Corey responded with this:
Hey Guys -
I’ve been working with Sony trying to reproduce and solve the PSN sign-out issues some of you report.
Any info you can generate will be really helpful. Sony mentioned a bug they fixed with the next system software update (2.70) that might resolve these issues, but we have to narrow it down and verify it’s the same problem to be sure it’s that and not something we need to fix on our end.
This prompted many users to ask the obvious next question of when? Psyonix-Jared responded:
IIRC it will drop later this month. And contain lots of fun new fixes. I’m excited about this one, lots of new stuff.
Though, I dont think I can mention any of them just yet.
As always PlayStation LifeStyle will do our best to dig deeper into the feature set of the next firmware update, we will keep you posted on any future developments.

Great that a new FW update is coming and it should help the console getting things out from Developers game spaces. And new features are ahead, maybe streaming video with personal space Bravia’s…
@ TheHater,
Sony is not going to morph itself in to Xbox Live (NXE) because Microsoft has obtained patents for most of the items that multiplatform gamers desire on Playstation Network. With Sony they won’t throw money at the developer to stop them from adding features to the game that would make its platform better, Kazuo Hirai has the attitude that since they are the “Industry Leaders in Game Consoles” that the quality of console and their leadership in the industry, developers should follow Sony on that basis.
Microsoft on the other hand is not below throwing money at a developer to keep them from putting features in a PS version of a multiplatform game like they did with the Windows operating system when there used to be a choice with IBM OS/2 which was codeveloped with Microsoft until Microsoft’s Windows 3.0 finally got some stability so that it could sell at retail and not reset computers constantly with bugs… Then they shut out competitors by slapping conditions on the license agreement for pre-installing the software on computers starting with Compaq.
So Microsoft’s gaming unit faces the same hurdles especially in Japan where most game development begins on the games that really push the architecture of the consoles on the market. And now the RROD is making a comeback and the extended warranty is over so they will have to find another way to get ahead…

Can’t wait
A new update is always cool news
March 8th, 2009 at 12:28 PM
Interesting… bug fixes aside, I wonder what else Sony will be including in this update. I HIGHLY doubt the rumored 2.70 content is true… it’s just too much all at once.
03/08/2009 at 4:56 PM
The rumors aren’t true.
Some of the list may be, but when I ask my sources I was told it was a make believe “wish list”.
March 8th, 2009 at 12:44 PM
I can’t wait. I wonder what all of the new stuff will be.
March 8th, 2009 at 1:39 PM
@SPD I dont think adding those simple features will “morph PSN into Xbox live” and even if MS did ridiculously patent those features there is always a way around these patents. The most obvious way is for sony to add these features and not make it exactly the same, like trophies, which in my opinion kick ass.

i always get over excited about these firmware updates and end up staying up all night the day before release just to be one of the first to DL it. it sounds like this one isn’t gonna be of the ‘Well, what the hell did it do?” variety. hard not to get excited and want to stay up all night. that’s just part of my (crazy) PlayStation lifestyle.

@sobrguy
lol we suffer of the same syndrome XD kudos for the PSLS reference
March 8th, 2009 at 3:20 PM
they need a lot of features added. Lets hope this one is a hefty update
March 8th, 2009 at 3:28 PM
even if they have half the updates that are on the rumored list thats out there, that’ll be a huge bonus and a step in the right direction for SONY. They are quickly catching up to xbox live IMO.

Makes me wonder about that so called 2.7 list.
March 9th, 2009 at 4:22 PM
Seeing how he said 2.70 and not something like 2.61 it should be a fairly major update like most of the x.x.0. ones have been (besides 2.60).

The rumoured feature list seems awesome… let’s hope they release half of the features and add some ‘unheard’ of stuff…. in these times I miss the ‘insider’ news of sev1512.wordpress.com blog
and yeah it’s the same site but you’ve went into another direction.
March 10th, 2009 at 11:29 AM
@SPD55
Those patents you are referring to …. it’s 100% the same as for custom soundtrack… Microsoft did hold the patent whil Sony made a similar program but which still is very different from the Xbox one so they don”t get sued.
March 10th, 2009 at 7:44 PM
hope the rumored features are true
March 11th, 2009 at 12:41 AM
Cool, excellent news.
