The PS3 is moving in the right direction in Japan. Not only have console sales been stellar but Resident Evil 5 which is already released has been selling much better then the Xbox 360 version. Initial numbers indicate that the PS3 version pushed 222,000 units while the 360 version had only sold 56,000 units.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out globally, as this puts global sales at a good start for PlayStation.

Yes but aren;t there 4 ps3’s to every xbox in japan. This game is tons of fun BTW

that really doesn’t surprise me but it’ll surely be the other way around here in north america.
PS: I’m almost done the game and its amazing.

Not surprised either although I doubt the numbers will be reversed here. I’m guessing it will probably be 2:1

I’m still on the fence about this game, not really sure why. I played 1-4 btw and loved ‘em.

I love this game and also feel the numbers will be reversed, but about 2:1, not 4:1.

@SolidCake – I’ve almost finished the game and trust me its worth it. The demo did not do it justice at all. The game is amazing and one to have for all RE fans.

i was going to get this but capcom’s refusal to move out of the 90’s and into a new set of controls detered me from spending 60 bones on this. You do not need a slow, cannot do 2 things at once, character to have thrills and scares. Look at Dead Space, it has all that and your guy can actually walk and shoot at the same time. Yes people, a game company has finally mastered something that was believed to be only in myth, someone has finally been able to have a character walk and shoot at the same time. Now to add insult to it, you can also walk and reload.. WHEN WILL THIS INSANITY END????

Voyou San… if every game played the exact same… where would the fun be?
I don’t buy new games to play just like all the other games I have. I buy games to get different experiences. RE4 was awesome. RE 5 is the same sort of gameplay. There’s a different sort of adrenaline rush that you get when you’re trying to shoot and get some distance so you can reload versus running and gunning.
Do you really want game developers to just emulate each other constantly like what happened when people were getting tired of gaming? Or do you want different challenges, different more unique styles, etc…
I for 1 loved RE 5’s demo. If the game isn’t for you, it isn’t for you. RE 5 isn’t a 90s control style. If you want to run and gun and shoot hordes of Zombies, play that 360 game Left for Dead. I want to play RE 5 because it’s RE 5. Not Left 4 Dead.

i dont even want to run and gun, i never said that. I want to be able to walk and gun. That is all, its a simple request and something that really should be updated. No every game does not need to be the same but that does not mean a game should stick to ancient controls and be afraid of a little change.

how many would it sell if it was available on the wii? 500k

these comments are a good representation of why I’m on the fence, some say it’s great, others not so great. And I respect both sets of opinions coming from my fellow gamers on this site.

That’s great news.
btw, I’ll be picking up RE5 on Wednesday!

Overall I would guess that it will even out world wide. Still good numbers though.

SolidCake just play RE 4 and the demo for 5. If you like both of them then you’ll love RE 5.
Voyou San… they changed a lot from RE 3 and Code Veronica and all that when they moved to RE 4. They won a lot of awards, it’s heralded as one of the best games on the PS2, and last gen altogether, etc…
They added some new changes such as real time inventory management, entirely being online co-op… etc… Do we want to play RE 5 the sequel to RE 4 or do we just want to play Dead Space with RE 5 skins all over it?
TheHater… well… your name says it all.the game isn’t even out yet and you’re speaking in past tense with its failure.
If they put the Dead Space controls into it then EVERYTHING would have to be changed in order to increase the challenge. The game is designed knowing that you have to stop and reload, and everything.
Did you even ever play and enjoy the RE 4 game? Did you try the demo? I mean this game isn’t Dead Space. I don’t want it to be Dead Space. If I wanted it to be Dead Space I would just play Dead Space…
Besides if they DID put in the Dead Space controls the complaint would be “They’re ripping off Dead Space”

ill take dead space controls with RE5 skins for 60 bones.
