“Versus” Brings New Online Gameplay Excitement To Resident Evil 5 Via Digital Download
Additional Mode Adds A New, Deadly Twist To RE5 Multiplayer Gameplay
Tired of working together with other players in Resident Evil™ 5? Ready to show your co-op partner exactly what you think of their gaming abilities? Capcom is pleased to announce that a new multiplayer mode for the soon-to-be blockbuster, Resident Evil 5, will be released post-launch as paid digital content via Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network. The new mode, called ‘Versus,’ adds a deadly twist to Resident Evil 5’s multiplayer, pitting players against each other in a contest of survival, a marked departure from the central co-operative nature of the game.
Versus allows up to four players to match wits in online battles across two very different game types. Slayer’s Rule is a point-based game that challenges players to kill Majinis. In Survivor’s Rule, players hunt the most dangerous game, each other! Players can begin the hunt as Chris, Sheva or other secret characters, and choose from either one-on-one or two-versus-two team matches for either of the two gameplay styles.
Versus will be available on Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network a few weeks after Resident Evil 5 is available. Versus will be available for 400 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE or $3.99 on the PlayStation Network. Versus mode requires the Resident Evil game software in order to be played. A broadband internet connection is required.

Game Developers need to go back to the drawing board on DLC, this is a perfect example of a lame ass attempt. Really, you’re going to charge me to play online? Sounds like a Microsoft idea.

…and this was left out of the box because???

guys hold on I’ve heard this is free and is in a patch as soon as you start the game. Now I am not sure why this was not included, could be that the 360 DVD couldn’t hold it so they needed to add it in a patch. Now that isn’t me trying to be fanboyish, but it is a real possibility, so before you destroy them wait to see if it is free.

Actually, the free patch is for Mercenaries online co-op mode, not this.

yea this is lame.. something that should have been it in the retail release but another case of a developer wanting to milk more money off of the people.i honestly cannot see this mode being any good. Look, lets both stand in an alley way, perfectly still and shoot each other, omg why has no game thought of this before???? …..

why only 4 players at once? why is it $4.00, the “Deadly Twist” is the sound of thousands of gamers thinking this company sucks all at once.

@vouyou san, that’s right I forgot about the not moving part, maybe its like a Western shoot out or something, nah, its more like, “pew, pew, pew, I’m dead, should have bought a burrito for 4 bucks…”

Quality DLC would be: a 4 player co-op mode where you have to survive the Raccoon City infection. Kind of like Left 4 Dead, only with RE 5 mechanics. Put some thought into it and I’ll consider a purchase.

sadly a lot of people will purchase this and developers will continue to think it is ok practice to leave bits out of the retail release so you can charge us more money.. got to love idiot consumers.

I refuse to buy this, I have nothing against dlc, but this is crap. If you are going to release dlc for money, at least make it something good.
