Twisted Metal

Back in the day, you couldn’t say the word PlayStation without at least thinking of Twisted Metal and seeing the hideous, insane, grinning face of the fiery clown in the ice cream truck…Sweet Tooth.  Vehicular combat has never been so good.  With today’s visuals and heavy focus on online gaming, it would make Twisted Metal for PS3 a killer app.  Rumors suggest that this game is indeed in the works; Eat Sleep Play has yet to make any official announcement.  Our guess is this will be the one game on the list to actually hit the PS3, and it will again make the name ‘Twisted Metal’ synonymous with the PlayStation brand.

  1. someone else who loves Suikoden!!!

    If Suikoden VI comes to the PS3 and Legend of the Dragoon 2 or just a remake of the first also hit the PS3, i would die of excitement!!

  2. Einhander is my big PS1 favorite, and Future Cop: LAPD definitely needs to be brought back. It had one of the best multiplayer modes back then, and the transforming cop car was just awesome.

    Dark Cloud would be awesome too

    and i hope that sony brings Heavenly sword Sequel

  6. Fun article. I agree 100% with Destruction Derby, Twisted Metal, and Road Rash.

    But hey, what about JETMOTO and/or SPLASHDOWN?! Currently there are ZERO water racing games on PS3 (or X360 to my knowledge)!!! I can’t believe no developer has stepped up to this opportunity!!! Can you imagine how amazing and realistic the water effects could be?

  7. @ kain, i remember hearing talk awhile back of a Dark Cloud 3, but have not heard anything in ages.

    @mcx

    I remember playing Jet Moto 2. I got that game for the Christmas of 1997 along with my brand spanking new Sony Playstation.

    And that was nearly 12 years ago.

    Wow.

    “Earlier this morning, Dylan Jobe revealed that “he and other members of Incognito entertainment have left the company to form their own studio.” The studio will be called Lightbox Interactive and they plan to produce several new titles for Sony Computer Entertainment of America within the “PlayStation family of platforms,” as Incognito always did. For a brief history lesson, you should know that Incognito was founded about a decade ago with both Scott Campbell and David Jaffe, who recently left in 2007 to co-found their own studio, Eat Sleep Play. Long-time industry fans should recognize Incognito for their Twisted Metal efforts, and current fans who still love to play Warhawk will congratulate Incognito for their PS3 effort. Evidently, this transition from Incognito to Lightbox has been in the works for almost a year, and nobody lost their job during the switch. However, the studio will relocate to Austin, Texas this fall, which is when they’ll officially open their doors to begin work on their new projects (whatever they may be). Perhaps they’ll try an offline Warhawk sequel…?

    If you want to check out the official Lightbox site, feel free. We really can’t wait to hear what these guys have in store for us; whatever it is, you can bet it’s going to be a PS3 or PSP exclusive – as indicated above – and knowing the minds involved, you should be pretty darn excited.”

  15. Jaffe, Campbell, and Jobe may already be working on a PS3 Twisted Metal title with Jaff&Campbell working on the single player, and Jobe and his crew work off-location on the online mode.

    My buddy posted the above article originally at our clan website regarding Twisted Metal:PS3. Just check it out, there is more info there: http://disposableheroes.freeforums.org/twisted-metal-developer-wtf-is-this-t253.html
