Firmware 2.70 Already in Developers’ Hands

It looks like firmware 2.7 will be out this week according to some developer chatter at GDC. No word on the source of this statement and no confirmation clearly puts this in the rumor category.
“PS3 Firmware 2.70 definitely this week. Developers got it yesterday.”

An update is an update. Who cares whats in it. I am just happy they keep adding and fixing things.
agreed jeff, any update is good news as it means Sony is actually trying to fix issues.
I really hope the update will go online tonight, EST. Since all updates have been out on tuesdays near midnight….
Hopefully it has cross game chat and faster XMB loadings for all (trophies sync and comparing trophies)…..crossing fingers
Any update is good right…. but how long has it been since we had a fw update ,…quite awhile so i doubt its just a update for fixes
I would have to agree with you vertodeigo. It will probably be a decent update when it comes. I wouldn’t hold my breath for tonight though.
@magpie4life: Doubt cross game chat will be in this firmware. At least if it comes out this week. Sony would probably have a walkthrough video on the official blog if something of that magnitude was about to happen.

That’s what Corey David said about 2.7.

If there was gonna be an update with new features Sony would probably have a video walkthrough up already just like they did with fw 2.40
There was some chatter on the PSN Updates forum about FW 2.7 today. Some one claiming that it was accidentally opened to the public but that Sony realized the mistake and took it down… If it is ready then they are waiting to make a big splash…

its GDC Week. i wouldn’t be suprised if cross game chat was there

I hope there will be exciting new features.
I’m just hoping that they create a music application, similar to what they did with the Photo section of the XMB. Even better would be a PS3 video editor, even a basic one.
I know that cross-game chatting and voice messaging is in the works, but it won’t be released until it’s 100% ready. That’s just how SCE prefers to do things.
GDC would be a perfect time for new Sony stuff, here’s to progress.

Ok if there is an update there would be one of two things an 0.1 boost or and 0.01 boost the latter of the two is a bug fix the first is some New stuff! Like when 2.4 came out they pulled it back until 2.41 and 2.42 both fix bugs from 2.4
We will see.
No update yet. Anyways we usually get firmware updates on Tuesdays
