The Helghast are Watching for Cheaters

Cheating, lag switches and “glitching”  have become commonplace in online gaming.  A good developer who supports their games online community, will do their best to prevent these forms of cheating.

Guerrilla Games has just announced on their twitter, that cheaters could lose their PSN ID, and online gaming privileges.  That alone should be enough to deter anyone who looks to use underhanded techniques to win online.

So if you cheat, be prepared for the ban hammer…

  1. Yeah! Ban hammer! Fear it!

  2. Good. That’s why I don’t play online anymore. I got tired of being melee’d by someone 50 feet away from me or someone going invisible and killing everyone. It got old really fast.

I’m all for anything they do to try to put a stop to it.

  3. They mentioned that they’ve been lenient, but they’re going to start cracking down. So watch out! And if you get banned, send me your copy of the game!

  4. very good.. anyone cheating should have their crap taken away from them.

  5. ZemaOner says:

Yep, I’m selling my copy of Killzone on eBay because I got banned.

  6. KwietStorm says:

More devs should do the same.

  7. ZemaOner! Really? You were cheating and you got busted? LOL!

  8. I think it is a good policy to ban people from the game. I do not think they should be able to take away your PSN ID though. I am also wondering how they are going to find the cheaters. If they are using reports from other users I can see potential problems with people getting reported for the wrong reasons.

  9. I think they have a way of finding out through the servers, Jeff. I could be wrong, tho.

  10. DGR8Mc187 says:

That’s going to be alot of people, cause everyone i played had to be cheatin I couldn’t suck that bad lol

  11. I helped a guy get a badge, I hope that doesn’t count.

  12. getting 5 kills with the flying bot is near impossible…..i think everybody cheated to get that ribbon

  13. @Jeff Belote

I think they could possibly have mods hidden in the game. They used to go that for Resistance. The level of Somerset on R1 was a haven for glitchers. They used to glitch out of the field of play and walk on top of the buildings. During one game I was playing, a mod game in and kicked out every single glitcher.

I don’t know how many games have in-game mods, but Resistance did. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s how they find cheaters in KZ2.

  14. wow zema you had to cheat at a game..

  15. Dixon says:

    Well played sony n GG.
    But aim glitch needs fixed

  16. Dixon if you’re talking about the “Input lag” on Killzone 2… that’s not a glitch, that’s physics and a 20-40 pound gun being moved very quickly.

We’re playing Killzone 2, not Warhawk, not Halo, not Resistance 2. The control set up is designed to be a bit different. Maybe that’s why I like it so much.

  17. ZemaOner says:

Haha. No guys I didn’t cheat, but I am selling my copy of Killzone. There was the “input lag” + “online game lag” + “people glitching around” + “hella annoying melee” + “me being better than everyone else” + “bad map layout” + and “annoying people that I thought were on my team but they were just enemies using that annoying perk” that made me not like the game. :)

  18. Sneeches says:

ohhh scarry!!! Guess they’ll just go create a new PSN ID.

But cheaters are in all games and will never end….good to see them trying to take a stand against it thought.
