PS3 Firmware 2.70 Full Feature List
Log onto your PS3 now, and you will be prompted to download Firmware Update 2.70.
Here are the full details:
You can now perform text chat with people who are on you Friends list. You can chat with them while you are playing a game.
To use this feature, go to [Friends] > [Start New Chat], and then select [Text Chat].
Using the internet you can now easily search for the latest information about the games you own. To use this feature select the icon for the game, and then select [Internet Search] from the options menu.
You can now copy and paste text.
You can copy test from the internet browser and past it into the text entry field of the on-screen keyboard to make it easier to enter text.
You can now set an option to reduce the difference in the volume level between track to help avoid sudden, loud output.
You can set this option in [Settings] > [Music Settings] > [Dynamic Normalizer].
Friends list on the XMB (XrossMediaBar)
- Sort your friends via their online status
- Attach larger files to the messages you send to your friends (file size will increase from 1MB to 3MB)
Video delivery service on PlayStation Store
- Video files you’ve purchased from the PlayStation Store can be backed up to an external storage device and then restored to PS3’s internal hard drive for playback – so you can clear up space on your hard drive and then restore the video anytime in the future
- Videos you’ve purchased for PSP (PlayStation Portable) system can now be transferred to PS3 for playback

ever since 2.5 (I think) bricked a few PS3′s, I always wait till the nxt day to install. You never know
Sev, I found another couple minor (but major, in my opinion) features:
- User profiles load lightning quick now – like, really fast. Really fast.
- Trophy comparison is also faster, and if a game is listed that one player has not played, it shows a dash instead of the old 0% indicator

I noticed those things as well. The web pages work a bit faster, too. I’ll have to try out chat feature soon.

The Compare Trophies list shows up faster now. I think it’s due to the fact that instead of loading a 0% for every game the opposing player hasn’t played that you have, it now gives them a “-”.
the text chat actually works pretty well, though there is a language filter and a cap on length of what you write per line
Lame update if you ask me…. I want voice chat already and cross game invites.
There’s also some nice new Theme features, allowing you to customize by date/time.
These PS3 firmwares remind me of Easter. Everytime we get an update, it’s like a bigass treasure hunt trying to figure out what else was added or fixed. =]
