Final Fantasy VII is on PSN! But…

04/10/2009 Written by Azariah Ellington II

…it’s only available in Japan. (insert screaming)

Square Enix has pretty much done what everyone has been begging them to do. FFVII has been re-released on the PS Store. Sadly, it is only available in Japan. You can purchase it from the store if you have an account in the Japan region, but be warned, all in-game text is in Japanese.

Japan has gotten the lion’s share of the PS One classics that have been released thus far. Hopefully SCEA and SCEE will be able to get up to SCEJ’s level. With the vast library of titles that the original PlayStation has to offer, Sony has to bring the titles the fans are clamoring for to more than just one or two regions.

  1. What is that, a stuffed polar bear by your screen?

  2. If you allow me to be Michael Pacther for one second, since this game comes out on the japanese store a week before the FF7 Advent Children complete released in JP, I think it will come out on the US store a week before June 2, a week before the US version of Advent Children comes out.

That would be nice if it came out here in NA.

Sweet I’m glad I can read japanese.

  5. Seeing as how none of the other PS1 SE games that were released on PSN last year ever made it to NA or anywhere else I don’t see us getting this one either.

  6. Screw this! I’m moving to Japan!

I never heard of this game.

I dont see why they dont release this stuff in all regions…it would just mean more money for them.

  9. lol @ SolidCake

I would really like to hear Sony EU and US’s excuse for not bringing all the best titles to the PSN… I’m sure it’s a bit of work, but it could be fantastic at gearing up the fans of a franchise before a new release!

Take MGS4 for example, why didn’t they release MGS1 a week or two before MGS4′s release? Tonnes of people would have grabbed the classic title, to gear up for the new instalment! I would have!

And this, how can you turn away the chance to milk more money out of an old game? lol, I would :P

this just doesnt make any sense to me… why would they not offer an intangible item to all regions? its not like it costs them any extra money that they wouldnt easily make back on a title like this… did they just not feel like porting an english version? i want this game and it would easily be a day one buy! come on sony hook it up! stop proving you dont care about your american market everyday! please!
