Most would agree that Sony’s last E3 Conference was nothing short of greatness. We saw God of War 3 in action, and we also saw the announcement of 256-player MMO, Massive Action Game (MAG). But this year, SCEA promises that E3 2009 will be their biggest conference in 11 years. Bold statement, there.
And where did this bold statement come from? SCEA hardware marketing boss, John Koller, of course. He had this to say:
“We’ve just started planning what the announcements will be, but I’ve been here for 11 years: this will be one of the larger E3s in terms of software and just discussions about where we’re going from a brand perspective and where each of the platforms is headed.”
“I think some of the big announcements are going to come of the software side. We talked a bit at Destination PlayStation, and came out with about half of the PSP line-up, maybe even less, and the balance we’re going to be talking about in the months leading up to E3 and at E3, the same goes for PS3. There’s a really strong line-up of games that’s going to help drive a lot of business.”
So, PlayStation LifeStyle readers, would do you think will be shown at E3 2009? Maybe a new blockbuster, or two? Leave your comments below.

Well after the the let down of GDC there has to be some better announcements. There should be some firm dates for games like MAG and DC Universe along with gameplay demos at the conference. So a lot of mystery behind MAG should be revealed.
And maybe something on their TM of PS Cloud as the brand goes forward. Hopefully more HOME information and gamespace reveals going forward. Hopefully the core update will be ready before then!
More PSP funness so that will be interesting I am hoping for the GPS accessory to be released since I don’t feel like spending 200+ for a dedicated GPS since my portable could do it they just have to release the software maps for the US and then i am in… I am saving my money and am ready to spend on this accessory…

Just two? Sony is going to be swinging for the fences in June. I’d say fans of the PlayStation brand need to be prepared to have their minds blown at E3 this year. Sony has been taking hits and biding their time since the PS3 launched, but that was Ali’s fight strategy too. Now it’s that their main competition is getting winded, Sony is about to unleash a combo that will out them on the mat for the ten count.
I can’t wait to see the form it’s going to come in.

The letdown of GDC? What big announcements did you expect at the game developers conference? Of course E3 will have bigger announcements.

PSP < --> Brain connectivity? What do I want to play, oh wait my PSP is telling me.
I think we will hear more about what Kojima is working on, I think we will hear about more of the awesome games that have been dropping. We will hear more about FF XIII, God of War 3, we might hear something from David Jaffe.
And on the PSP side, maybe we’ll finally get some info about the PSP-4000 or PSP2 or whatever they’re going to call it. PSP Spy Cars, PSP remote controlled AUVs, who knows? I think there will be a LOT of new PSP information.

This is going to be a awesome E3 this year. Since they toned it down a couple of years ago, which mind you, was the most IDIOTIC decision I ever heard. Ok 1 of the most idiotic.
But now, since even admitted that E3 NEEDS to go back to the way it was, better controlled of course, it may be the best one ever. We have heard some announcements regarding Sony games, and PS3 stuff.
But E3 is where we will hear more of that, but much MUCH more breaking news, blockbuster news and mind blowing news where we all go, NO EFFING WAY..SWEEEEEEEEEET!! I hope they did my iidea I sent them when the PS Network/Store 1st came out. After checking out the movie available, which wasn’t a lot then, I sent them in a email begging them to team up with Blockbuster Online because their movie service is huge, with a boatload of members. I gave my reasons why it would be beneficial to Sony to team up with them.
Maybe they will finally announce their DVR service as well….
oooooo let the rumors begin lol

Something from Team ICO would make me happy.

Sony has guts to say this will be the best E3 in 11 years. I do have faith in them though.

Show me a new Twister Metal already.

He doesn’t say it’s going to be their biggest in 11 years, he says “this will be one of the larger E3s” so it will be comparable to others. I hope we hear two or three new game announcments on the PS3, I hope it isn’t a PSP show.

Man, imagine if they release info on something as mind blowing as LBP this year…

@Nimnom
A new twisted metal? I’m counting on it!

Yeah they should take the quiet approach and then blow the doors off. It’s statements like these that cause crazy hype and rumors that no real announcement can ever live up to.

Wait people to see what Sony has on the hand.
