PSP Firmware 5.50 Coming Soon

According to Eric Lempel, the next PSP firmware update should be arriving sometime in the very near future.
Here are some of the firmware highlights:
- Memory Stick improvements – You’ll be able to create and access sub-folders on your Memory Stick PRO Duo for music, videos and photos. Separately, the available space required to download a file from PlayStation Store to your Memory Stick has been reduced significantly.
- Internet search for games directly from the XMB – You’ll be able to easily search the Internet for information about your PSP games. Select the icon for the game, hit the Triangle button, and then select [Internet Search] from the options menu to get search results based on the game title. This feature was added to PS3 with the recent 2.70 update.
- Trend Micro trial – PSP’s Internet browser is a great tool for checking out your favorite Web sites on the go, and we’re teaming up with the Internet security experts at Trend Micro to make the Web browsing experience safer and more secure. With the 5.50 update, you’ll have the option to access a free trial of two Trend Micro services:
Trend Micro Web Security uses Web reputation technology to block PSP owners from accidentally visiting a Web site that may contain malicious content designed to steal personal information and confidential data.
Trend Micro Kids’ Safety uses URL filtering technology to prevent children from accessing Web sites that feature inappropriate content.

Nice additions, but nothing major.
Still waiting on them to say ‘PSP Trophies…’ That’ll knock my PSP playing into overdrive.
Now we have “Trophy Hoes” on PSP… ROFL Why can’t people just be satisfied with beating the game… Hell that used to be the ultimate trophy. Now that GEN X has grown up they have been programed by those teachers that don’t want to “damage” the physcological make up and now we pay the price in games getting more expensive so that they can feel like the did something by awarding trophies at every step of the way… Yeah I am an older gamer and have watched the games get better and some harder but when you add trophies to games it makes them less profitable and then you have to go multi-platform and then. Well profits start to drop and then the company closes its doors… No more games..
We probably won’t be getting any trophies on the current PSP thanks to all of the people who hacked their PSPs. Sony said their afraid if they added trophies that the hackers would find a way to unlock them without earning them and it would be unfair to everyone. So i’m just hoping for a PSN friend’s list and messaging on the PSP.

Jesus Christ – Finally! Sub-folders are what I’ve needed for a VERY long time. Seriously, this is awesome news.
Why are sub-folders so important Djackson . Unless you r an organization freak.

When you have over 15pp songs on your PSP, you’ll want a better method of organizing them too.
