    I think they are going a little overboard with the depth-of-field effect. In the bottom left pic, the lines between the foreground (#93) and the background should also be blurred. If something is obstructing your view and you aren’t focusing on it, its outline doesn’t have a hard line.

  2. John Draisey Says:

    Yeah, the outline should be soft. They’re probably using a Z-buffer and applying a simple blur pass based on that rather than a bokeh simulation.

    you wouldn’t notice it in motion, so it doesn’t really matter. when they added radiosity lighting, that
    made the game look a lot better, imo.

  4. John Draisey Says:

    Oh my god, yes. The lighting quality is just so much better now.

  5. StalkingSilence Says:

    haha i think we just scared away all the other commenters ;)
    Good graphics discussion though. Radiosity should have some cool effects if they accurately light a night game.

    I hope NCAA is on par with this, want to play as my GATORS in all the glory! :P

    @Stalking
    Probably, haha. You do graphics work too?

    StalkingSilence says

    ahh back in the day – worked as a 3d modeler/animator then moved more to the software engineering side of the house. I really loved graphic design but truth-be-told, many were out there who were much better. The pay in information security is a little more stable as well.

    Impressive. Impressive indeed.
