Tomorrow, the creators of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, will be welcoming Lara Croft and company to the fold. The Eidos takeover has been approved and Square-Enix has acquired the Western presence it has been looking for. The deal was announced back in February, but these things never happen overnight. Stockholder approval and government processes typically slow process.

It will be interesting to see what this marriage will bring to the gaming community. There is the potential for greatness, both entities have a wealth of experience and properties to rely on.

Sad day for PS3 users I say.

    dragon82 says

    Why do you say that?

probably because both companies don’t support Sony like they used to. although i don’t blame EA for the Orange Box situation. the did what they could with what Valve threw on their lap. i fully blame Valve for that bad port and lack of support. Square has been shifting away from the PS3 as of late and EA hasn’t even attempted to take advantage of the PS3’s capabilities. this union probably means us PS3 supporters have to look forward to sub-par ports of (most likely) awesome games. but who knows? i could be wrong. *tries to laugh through the tears*

I say that because Square Enix have not been too giving when it comes to Sony lately, and there’s a lot of tension between them and PS3 users since FF went multi-plat. Now that their takeover of Eidos is complete that’s another company PS3 users lose out on..

Good thing Sony invested in some other developing firms.

Now I won’t support Eidos either. That’s fine. They haven’t been producing top shelf product for awhile.

they can have Lara & FF, I’ll take Nathan Drake. I had a blast with the Orange Box,
what was wrong with that?, I forget now.

yah i dont know what to think of this… eidos use to be a great dev but since has gone down hill, and square enix has become shit in the past few years as well…. so combining shit with shit = shit right?

What everyone stated here is correct.. FF going muti-platform after them making a huge hoopla about the ‘PS3′ exclusivity. if they would have just stayed quiet and announced a new final fantasy probably would have been easier on the fans. FF grew on the playstation Brand and started on Nintendo. this Generation they suck at making games and everything out seams so generic with polished graphics not to mention NO PS3 games until FF13. The huge delay on FF13 THAN add 360 port delaying it more. they should have just release it on the PS3 instead of having there fans wait for the 360 port. To put it simple, they just dont care about PS3 users. i have a feeling things are gonna turn completely around for the PS3 and than they will come crawling back and i hope Sony tells them to piss off…

as for VS exclusivity.. its a smoke screen.. 2012? 2013?

  8. Voyou San Says:

oh well, there hasen’t been a good Lara Croft game since… wait there was a good one?

  9. OldBloodAndGuts Says:

Oh, wow. Such big changes aren’t always good. They must have had some changes in their hierarchy.
