Each year at E3, the industry’s juggernaut convention, console manufacturers always come with spectacular announcements and surprises. With as much that has been teased and rumored, we are certain this year’s E3 will satisfy PlayStation fans of all sorts.
Last year we saw surprise announcements of MAG, and the PSN Video Store. A teaser for God of War 3 was shown as well. Other than that, not many surprises were unveiled. This year we are expecting many more exciting surprises than the previous year. With the help of the staff, PlayStation LifeStyle takes a crack at forecasting the outcomes to this years E3.

good predictions, I hope some of them come true.
May 5th, 2009 at 12:30 PM
Can’t wait!!!
But I’m hoping for MUCH more news than just that
.
Plenty of games out there that I think have gone under the radar so far but will surface in E3 as potential blockbusters, it will definitely be interesting.

SCEA RPG PLEASE!!!!!!!
Eye support would also be nice, as well as team ico game and twisted metal… oooo and metal gear!!!
May 5th, 2009 at 12:45 PM
I don’t know about you guys, but I want to see what they’ve done with Eyepet. I’m really wondering about how dramatic of a PS3 price drop we’d be looking at.
May 5th, 2009 at 1:15 PM
I agree with Voyou, SCEA RPG PLEASE!!!!!!!

I’m really looking forward to your (PSLS) coverage of E3. These predictions are all pretty sweet, but what I really excited about is all the info we have none of yet. Meaning, there are always a few unexpected surprises to emerge from E3 that nobody had any forewarning about.

Forget EyePet. I was to see what’s up with EyeDentify. Haven’t heard about that game in a LONG time….hope they didn’t cancel it, because it looked fun.

We’re looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. It’ll be a lot of fun seeing all the news that comes from the event, but covering E3 is a NIGHTMARE. So much news, from so many companies, with so many games, and so little time.
It’ll be an experience, and probably the most difficult week of the entire year here for the staff, but we can’t wait to give you guys the coverage that you need.

Ok, time to ADD to that list..a couple are known, and the rest is mine
1. Voice support with new added functionality spanning across all PS3 games between friends on at the same time.
2. Added HOME features: Voice support coming back, and in-Home text and voice chat from different areas within HOME.between friends (me in EA Space and friend in Resistance Space)
- Improved Game launching from within Themed spaces
- Picture Frames we know, but I will guess at adding a Poster feature within HOME showing your own uploaded images
- The ability to “leave” voice messages and written messages at friends Home Space when they are not online: Harbour Studio, Summer House etc.
- a NEW interactive “REAL TIME” gaming feature like the ARG “Xi”
- Finally the exapansion of Red Bull Island which was mentioned in DEC 11th press release(it also stated that, along with the NEW Warhawk, Resistance, Guitar Hero and Uncharted Spaces, which some have come out)
- In Home debuts of “Music” talent and a more expanded, Developer/Programmer/Designer press confrences)
- Home Concert Series with those musical talents
-The newly created Conference Hall I came up with in detail (I can hope right lol). To read it my great idea, and not being cocky..,it’s REALLY GOOD(http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3home&thread.id=567255
- A deal with Blockbuster Online to give the PS Store a brand new section dedicated to movie downloads, but where we could ALSO rent the movies for home delivery service.
( I suggested it to L. Star 4-5 months ago and in the Suggestions threads along with the next idea below)
- An ACTUAL Blockbuster Virtual Store INSIDE of HOME.. while in HOME, we can walk into it, and up appears a menu system like we see in the PS Store, and/or like the stores in the mall interface. So we can download movies to our Home space for viewing.
-PSP access to the internet through the PS3 and also the ability to use SKYPE with the PS3
- A improved web browser
-New Colors for the PS3, along with Game themed designs on the PS3

Can’t wait for E3.
I’m hoping for a few jRPGs, we don’t have nearly enough. I don’t think we will see Twisted Metal PS3 next month though. David Jaffe said last week on the Bonus round his new game wont make it to E3 and they are thinking of a separate unveiling later in the year.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:01 PM
Sweet list.
Seems about right to me.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:03 PM
Could you imagine if that list was true, and God of War came out this calendar year? Hugeness. I also believe a new firmware is in order. PSN desperately needs an upgrade to complete the community feel.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:54 PM
this is a great list! not very risky but still a great list. e3 is going to be all about the ps3 and psp this year! cant wait!
May 5th, 2009 at 4:03 PM
Awesome great list though I doubt they will release the app store for the psp and drop price on the already low ps3.
May 5th, 2009 at 4:06 PM
Awesome list.
Can’t wait until E3. This post just makes me even more excited.
May 5th, 2009 at 4:06 PM
Damn Haskell Sony should take notes lol.
I look at it like how OldBloodAndGuts does .
It is the unnannouced surprises that have me on the edge of my seat
May 5th, 2009 at 11:06 PM
When is E3 anyways?
May 6th, 2009 at 5:17 PM
@ ZemaOner
June 2 – 4
May 8th, 2009 at 12:23 PM
Seih Port PSP
May 13th, 2009 at 12:51 AM
PS3Mote you say?
May 13th, 2009 at 1:00 AM
I’d like to add that this E3 is feeling a lot more like an actual E3 in terms of the amount of excitement and anticipation in the air. I can’t wait.
Also, Sev, if you ever need someone to help you out, or just, oh I don’t know, keep you company at E3, don’t be afraid to ask. Transportation is not a problem, and I’ll most likely say yes.
May 14th, 2009 at 2:26 PM
@ SEV
Hey do you know if they will announce anymore PS3 greatest hits games? It’s been 3 or 2 years and Heavenly Sword is still over $50, also R&C, and Uncharted 1. I want to see those in the Greatest Hits library.
May 16th, 2009 at 4:12 PM
Hell yeah, those are pretty damned nice predictions… I’m really hoping to have confirmation on the PS3mote, PS3 price drop and new avatars. The release dates on the games aren’t as important because we already know what, just not when.
