Remember when the CEO of Activision said that they only wanted franchises that they can exploit on a yearly basis or more? Well, he certainly wasn’t lying.
Today, Activision announced four new titles, Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero, DJ Hero, and, as previously reported, Guitar Hero: Van Halen. Along with Guitar Hero: Smash Hits, that brings a total of five HERO games coming this year. If you’re a fan of the HERO games, then this will definitely be a buffet for you. And also, be prepared to spend a truck load of money. Possibly even boat loads.
So how do you guys feel about this announcement? Is Activision giving its audience what they want, or simply milking the franchise?

I think you mean to say “that brings a total of five MORE hero games coming this year”.
wow that’s a lot of games lol…i seen the controller for the DJ Hero, that’s intriguing.
This won’t be good. Too much choice really isn’t good sometimes. Take vista. Other than crashing a lot one reason it wasn’t as successful as xp was because there were too many. basic, home, office, ultimate….
Milk Milk Milk.
What the fans want is more songs, not more games. We should get a Smash Hits DLC pack, a Van Halen DLC pack, more DLC packs… Okay, and DJ Hero, since it’s actually a new game.
But we shouldn’t have to thumb through 8+ discs to find that song we want to plastic guitar it up to.
@Fault
exactly thats why im officially giving up guitar hero.. after 2 installments.
@Fault Hell ya. It’s so much easier for them to get my money out of me by making me pay 2 dollars at a time for it.
As for DJ Hero, fuck that, I’ll wait until Harmonix or some GOOD company that cares about quality over quantity makes a DJ game.
Fuck you activision. The only Guitar Hero I want to play is voiced by Jack Black.
@MakaiOokami
couldnt agree more. will definitely wait until a better dj game comes out. all these look pretty cool though. but ill be waiting for the competition to come out until i make my purchase for sure.
Ditto. Activision can suck it.
They’re milking it for everything they can. They have no souls, no conscience. They’re keeping kids that want to learn the real thing and turning them into apathetic, instantly gratified, talentless posers. Screw them and every game like it.
@OldBloodAndGuts
“They’re keeping kids that want to learn te real thing and turning them into apathetic, instantly gratified, talentless posers.”
So what you’re saying is that Activision is turning kids into members of the band Nickelback?
