Rumors have been spreading the internet for months now, regarding a Playstation phone. Could the sporadic speculation finally have some validity?
Speaking to the Financial Times, Sony Ericsson CEO Hideki Komiyama stated that a Playstation phone “could happen”. Now, this has been rumored for months; and neither Sony nor Sony Ericsson have announced plans of a Playstation phone. So, let us take this with hesitation.
Concept art for the potential product, as well as a recent patent submission from Sony Ericsson, are included below. Make sure to check back on Playstation Lifestyle as we keep you updated on this developing situation.
concept art looks cool.
This is about the only phone that could steal me away from my Blackberry
but what would be the actual point of a PS3 phone?
like and PSP type gaming/phone? yeah.. regular phone.. nah
im happy with my Samsung memoir phone…….
Sony should just release some games for the iPhone. I mean, Sony Music has their artists on iTunes, don’t they? Sure, Apple is a competitor in a way, but helping Apple must hurt Microsoft in some way. So in the end it’s worth it. ;p
what the hell would you do with a playstation phone?
Why do they want to make a PS Phone? Just make the PSP into a phone…
interesting…. but why not just make the new psp have a phone built in.

Sony makes a lot of great products and one of their Z line ericson phones had just about every major audio and video playback and just about every feature I could ask for.
To give us a PSPhone would be an interesting move… I don’t think I want my Phone easily damaged at work and for both to get stolen at once if something unfortunate happens.
@Sneeches: I absolutely agree, i’ve been hoping they would add phone capability to the psp for over a year now

correct, add phone stuff to the PSP lineup
Damn, that’s a SWEEEEET phone! I bet it will be so damned expensive, though.
Think about the cost of a hybrid PSP/Phone. A PSP retails for about $120. How much would that cost? A top of the line phone merging with a top of the line handheld. I don’t even want to think about that.
I’m thankful that I have a PS3 and I would happily spend the $399 again if something ever happened to it, but I wouldn’t want to spend that kind of coin on a PSP/Phone.
However, if Sony did release a Playstation Phone, I would have to say that I would definitely be intrigued. My current 2 year contract on my phone runs out next month, so I will be a Free Agent in phone terms. lol
