FFXIII A Much Better Fit On Blu-Ray; 360 Version Gimped Already

You have read our concerns over graphical differences between when FFXIII was a PS3 exclusive, and now that it is a multi-platform release.

But thanks to Blu-Ray, at least we don’t have to fret over the latest FFXIII bottleneck.  According to FFXIII producer Yoshinori Kitase, the Xbox 360 may only see English voiceovers because of the limited capacity per disc.  This issue is obviously not relevant to PS3 owners due to it using Blu-Ray as a format.

Obviously, when we talk about XIII it’s for PS3 and Xbox – with PS3 being on Blu ray there would be enough memory, but on Xbox probably not,” said Kitase. “At the moment we’re thinking of releasing the voice in English only. Are there many people who would like to play with Japanese voices?

As this generation of consoles heads into the future, I am quite sure we will see Blu-Ray becoming more and more of a necessity for developers who are unwilling to sacrifice their creative visions.

  2. SolidCake_ Says:

    Rats, that dashes my hopes for a Pig Latin Xbox version.

  3. shadowjin Says:

    @SolidCake

    HAHA SOLIDCAKE THAT COMMENT MAD MY DAY BRO!!!!!! HAHAH!!

    ‘pig latin xbox version’ lmao!

  4. Jeneric Says:

    so there is a legitimate argument for the fact that ps3 is better than 360. who knew?

  5. nikrel Says:

    Just like I thought. Will audio be the only thing sacrificed? Is this what this article is saying?
    Still no word yet on graphical differences that is what I am concerned about as well, glad audio is not being slashed.

  6. John Draisey Says:

    @Nikrel,
    I doubt Audio is the only thing being chopped down. Going from 48GB to 7GB is a huge leap. Even with 4 DVDs, you’re talking about 20GB of less data compared to the PS3 version.

    Yep it will be dumbed down graphically so as not to alienate SE’s precious Xbox 360 fanbase,
    Huh what there is no 360 SE fanbase?
    I just find it funny that SE has sold
    there xbox rpgs which are all crap btw to less than 10% of the GIANT fanbase they so wanted to sink their teeth into.
    Karhma is a B****.
    SE can haz ma Ballz.
    End rant.

    p.s.
    Still gonna buy this game though.

  8. Voyou San Says:

    dont get your hopes up people.. i am sure with the way SE has screwed us over that instead of the 360 version being gimped of features, it will be the PS3 version that will be dummed down to be the same as the 360 version.

  9. GunaK Says:

    well said.

  10. Sneeches Says:

    was there any doubt?? none from me anyways. I knew all along and anticipated this, the 360 doesn’t have the power to run this thing and its going to be like 10 discs long on the xbox, where as the ps3 has the power and the capacity to house such a large game!!!
