Redesigned PS3 to be Revealed at E3
Of course this is just yet another rumor, as there is no official confirmation. But we caught word that Sony is set to not only reveal the PSP Go at E3, but another hardware redesign will be debuted as well.
We didn’t get any specifics, but we speculate that it could be one of a couple different options. First off, it very well could be as simple as a white or a silver PS3, to go with the white and silver Dualshock 3′s that have been made available. This makes sense, as most people would want their controllers to match their consoles.
The other option, and the one we are leaning toward is a slimmed down, model. Maybe with some updated specs. Nothing major of course as to not alienate current PS3 owners, but there is an off chance they could add something small like bluetooth 3.0 support. When we caught wind of this, the exact word “redesign” was used, which leaves me to believe that it is indeed a PS3 slim. Announcing a different color wouldn’t exactly warrant the term “redesign”.
Then again, since a console wasn’t specified either, it could be a redesigned PS2, or yet another PSP model (other than the Go) but that is highly unlikely. There is also an off chance that this “hardware redesign” was referring to a PS3 Motion controller, but I really don’t consider that to be “hardware”, as it’s more of an accessory.
Sony has been known to slim down their consoles, as the original PlayStation, PS2, and even the PSP all have seen slimmer models released after the initial model was released. Is the market ready for a PS3 slim? I know I am.

i hopeso.. i thought about this 2 days ago.. they should re- design it . i have no issues with the current look.. but a new look would be nice. id rebuy it.. as long as the HDD the same
It should have the same HDD. 80GBs are dirt cheap.

my brother will be pleased,I said he could have my Eu 60gb if a Ps3 slim comes out.I also think it’s were Sony does miracles when they shrink hardware.I’m trying to picture were they made cuts.
it would need to fit the hdd they use.They could rotate it 90° and cut a big chunk of the length,that big assed fan may not be needed anymore,that alone would drop the size a weight,could that hybrid cell/rsx be used in it,that would shrink the board.

Well with talk of Blue Tooth 2.0 & the PSP Go! or PSP2 whatever the name is, I hope to see Blue Tooth integrated into the new PSP.
Transfer files wirelessly, use the DS with your PSP just hooked up to the TV, number of possible things.

A PS3 Slim would be cool, it would be MUCH, MUCH Better is they added a better fan to keep it cooler, but even MORE importantly, is adding BACK ON, the PS2 Emulater…when I got my PS3 a couple of years ago, I was thrilled it had the backwards compatibility for the PS2 games.. then, then removed it because it added a lot to the price..
BUT, if they would put it back in, they would get SO MANY more sales. The # of people who still haven’t bought the PS3 because of their old PS2 games is huge…but if the did bring back the PS2 Emulator, sales would go through the roof

Unless there is a major internal change (like more memory or something), I will pass on this. But it is a great idea, especially if it is cheaper. Prices would explode and maybe down the road I would get one.

I think Sony has the means to do redesigns as much as necessary. They are masters of electronics an could have already planned a new design out by now. I would like to buy 2nd PS3.

SotC is being remade in 1080p for the PS3 isn’t it? The IGN team hinted at it in the last podcast, but acted like it was just a wish they had.
great idea for future owners but unless something huge is changed on the inside then i will stick with my 60GB
I doubt it will be redesigned, but maybe recolored.
