They took a gamble focusing on the 360 due to its higher install base and possibly an easier architecture. The problem is that install base weighs heavy on western gamers and not Japan where folks look to rpgs first. But that's home consoles...the DS is likely where they thought they'd make their biggest dent. And for all intents in purposes, in Japan that likely should have worked.
Square needs to stop re-inventing the wheel. You may be able to get away with that on Final Fantasy, but with your other titles, you need to have an iterative process so you can crank out more games. The game is either turn-based, automated, or realtime. No need to keep making us learn combat systems with every game. You've got 13 final fantasy games with 13 different variations of skill building and leveling systems. Take, I don't know, five of them, and make several unique RPGs off them. With your systems laid down, it frees your devs to work on other things like special effects, tag-team moves, co-op, and other things that can enhance the game or the system. Back Sony and back Nintendo, that way you've got your home base covered. When you've got footing there, then expand to MS. Port it down, digitally distribute it, whatever.

They just need to improve their efficiency and refine their development process. The game was close to complete for the PS3 they should have just stayed with it. Then later they could have released it on the 360. This way they could have focused on finishing one thing before having to move over and create another version. Most likely was a business / greed decision that was the call. Sure MS would help pay for some of the cost but overall they could have already been finished and started recouping. Hell they could have just made a special edition version later exclusive to the 360 just to make some extra sales. I blame MS for tempting them to wait and put it out the same day.

It would have been ok for SE to agree to put the game on the 360 at some point. exactly,
they wonder why there having disappointing sales? do they expect every mom to rush out the door and buy there kid a DS game? the gamers that are working or older tend to lean more towards PS3/360 and take the DS/PSP as a second choice.. unless something like FF7 comes out. why not push there next Gen products? they do, just on 360 not the PS3.

@ Trexman

exactly,

they wonder why there having disappointing sales? do they expect every mom to rush out the door and buy there kid a DS game? the gamers that are working or older tend to lean more towards PS3/360 and take the DS/PSP as a second choice.. unless something like FF7 comes out. why not push there next Gen products? they do, just on 360 not the PS3.

By: shadowjin

<guid

it still doesnt excuse all the other revenue there losing by not supporting the PS3 but they choose the retarded DS and the 360. Karma is a B*tch. if they gave equal support they would have revenue. instead all we hear are promise's of support yet not a single game out. If they really knew there fan base, they'd know that playstation users like RPG.
like TheHater said. you f**king with the wrong fanbase! its funny dude.. when i saw MS Bill gates smiling and holding hands with imperial hot whatever the hell his name is.. I noticed he used words as embrace, extend and plan on innovating. all i saw was Embrace, extend, and exterminate tactics forcing games to be exclusives to 360 from SE. Games like Star Ocean, FF13 and The Last Remant. which still haven't graced the PS3 than forcing (a guess) the PS3 version on FF13 to come out with the 360. that is stupid move, especially when the games taking forever.
i know Sony bailed there ass's before and they have part of there stock but not enough to make decisions. Sony should just boycott that lame company. (lol) thats extreme but whatever.

@ TheHater

its funny dude.. when i saw MS Bill gates smiling and holding hands with imperial hot whatever the hell his name is.. They made themselves, Sony just helped them become more renown in the US. Just like Nintendo made them stand out, Sony increased there popularity and helped them grow.
There games made them stand out.....Sorry Sneeches, even tho i dont like SE i will give them credit. Sony was just 1 part of the whole picture.

@Sneeches

They made themselves, Sony just helped them become more renown in the US. yeah, starving for money but fail to see the future impact.. this is a prime example. Since they announced FF13 for the 360 there has been nothing but bad news. before that, everyone just wanted FF13 out but since there decision to port it over, things are going in a down hill spiral for them. also your correct, all these delays and muti-platform promises that never make it to the PS3. SE needs to STFU when it comes to FF game release dates. Every game is taking longer and longer to be released. im even slowly losing interest in the FF brand.

@lepolohuevo

yeah, starving for money but fail to see the future impact.. this is a prime example.
