GameStop Reports Record Sales

05/23/2009 Written by Kyle P.

For their last fiscal quarter, GameStop is reporting record profits, for their Q1 ending May 2nd. What games contributed to their success?

Interestingly enough, GameStop cites the strong sales of Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5. Overall, GameStop’s total sales figures rose 9.2% to $1.98 billion, and total net earnings increased 13.4% to $70 million. Not all is good, however, as sales of new games dropped 2.8%. Likewise, used games sales surged 31.9%.
