With [shal]Singstar[/shal]‘s 5th Anniversary having taken place, the development team at Sony’s [shal]London Studio[/shal] were ready to discuss the future of their [shal]karaoke[/shal] series. Though the exact details haven’t been confirmed, development director Mike Haigh was more than happy to elaborate on one feature his team has in mind:
“…you have to listen to your community, and put tools in place so you can easily listen, so that there’s no barriers or other influence from external forces. Watching how people use video and the pause button gives us good indication as to what to do next, and that’s a hint at what we might be doing in the future.”
What do you guys think about this? Would you be interested in having video editing capabilities in Singstar? Let us know in the comment section below.

oh boy, I can’t wait to see those videos…
*puts loaded gun to head*
i think its dumb. i play singstar with friends at least 3 times a week. the current video setting is a direct upload and its natural looking… the problem i have with video editing for singstar is that people will start to make there uploads look more professional and nit pic what people see and gets uploaded.
What makes the original video uploads better, is that it shows the person exactly how they are, with no edits….. the real you. You can be creative when uploading videos but your time frame is limited. Ive seen uploads, that look really good because they flow into the song and or act funny but not dumb. I can already see people adding blinking light effects, spinning the picture, warping images, adding sound effect, altering there voice and completely destroying what makes the uploads fun…………..you and friends having a good time..
worst idea ever.
American Idol for PS3… If they can edit video then they should make it like the Living Room Stage Set space in Home from Loot, so that you have to have a capture device to do the video editing…and since the PS3 really has no capture/editing software installed it would have to involve off loading it to a PC to edit. Which would make it more expensive for those that don’t have that feature in the PC to begin with…
How about a normal video editing application for the PS3 EyeToy? I know there’s that free app. on the PSN Store but I’m thinking more of one with the abilities on somewhat more of a professional level.
lol, umm ok
Ha, sounds funny.
@shadowjin
Great point, especially about people nitpicking and raising the standards. Eliminates the ability to just sing good or make a funny video (Coca coca cabana!)
