Bruce Oberg, co-founder of Sucker Punch, has confirmed that there are no plans on having DLC or multiplayer for their upcoming open-world action title, inFamous.
Oberg said that the company is currently on “vacation”, and when they come back, it will be the future for their company. So, we won’t be seeing DLC or multiplayer. But does it really matter? Now, the company can focus on their next title, which may be the next Sly Cooper.

I’m definitely OK with that, inFAMOUS does not need multiplayer. The guys at Sucker Punch deserve a good break after their hard work on this title. Plus, the future of a possible Sly title is exciting…

Proteus I totally agree! Personally I’m sick of every developer adding multiplayer to every game and watering down the single player.

I totally agree with you. I mis the days of true single player games. Uncharted was perfectly fine with no multiplayer. Bioshock also. Multiplayer is great but not in all games.

thats too bad. It would be badass to have a multiplayer in which you fly through parts of the city as “maps” and find and kill the enemy which the lightning moves. One team can be good and one evil,

I would love to see some DLC for this game maybe adding some powers or a new city or something like it!!!

im sick of competitive online so i dont care but they hopefully there is some way they can release dlc if they want to. what if this game becomes some huge seller. would be really worth it. people need to follow fallout3 dlc plans. more single player DLC. im sick of online crap.

I’m confused. Was multiplayer ever expected to be added in, or are they just making it known that it’s not a part of the plans?

@ dragon82
Finely someone agrees with me! I was very disappointed to hear that Uncharted and Bioshock got multiplayer. But what can you do? I’ll try the beta for Uncharted and who knows I MIGHT play it when it comes out. All these developers seem to think it is necessary. Probably 75% or more of my game collection for ps3 and psp have online capability that I never use. I still buy for the single player experience, which seems to be going by the wayside unfortunately.

@ KwietStorm
Some people were asking about it in the past. I think this just happens to be the first official response on the subject.

this game doesn’t need multiplayer

It all depends on the game and how they handle it.
If you’re a generic shooter game, then don’t fuck with online and don’t put trophies on it. Seriously no one wants to grind out 10k kills on a crappy multiplayer title.
I like Eat Lead’s response to multiplayer. They give you a multiplayer trophy, realize they don’t have multiplayer, and then it just says “Well too late now” XD
Who really wants to go online with Quantum of Solace or Riddick? There are so many games coming out that focus SOLELY on multiplayer. Warhawk, Spacehawk, M.A.G. Socom Confrontation, etc… We don’t need tons of half assed multiplayers.
Uncharted is different though. Uncharted is more of an action shooter. It’s more about climbing and things like that and tons of alternate routes and places to hide. So we can imagine a very amazing experience from that.
As far as DLC.. VERY disapointed if they don’t do DLC. Just because there is so much possibility with this game. I guess it would be FAIRLY difficult to make DLC since they would probably have to alter it based on what your good/evil morality is at. I was just thinking though about how cool it would be to get some post game challenge things like a computer you can hijack into and you do a survival match with online leaderboards. Kinda like a cross between mercs in RE 5 and Mirror’s Edge DLC.

that’s good, its going to have a great single player experience…. but no DLC??? That kinda puts me off a bit. I mean they could release a new part of the city and like 20 new missions or something as DLC. Why wouldn’t they want to do this?

I’m with Sneeches on this one.

yeah i wouldnt play multiplayer of this game anyway… didnt even play the re5 mp. this game should be great anyway though.
a dlc is always welcome though.

This was a big surprise when I first read it but this is actually a really good thing- of sorts. Not having any DLC means all the content they’ve produced for the game is already on the disc and (almost) ready to to go out the door. And no multiplayer? Well, often times games will give us a shoveled multiplayer portion of the game that is so bad it actually ruins single player mode. So this means they looked at their game, thought long about it and ended up deciding doing what’s best– focusing on the single player mode.

@Proteus1202 and wolverine81
if there gonna add mutiplayer, add them to story mode with various difficulty . This game would be odd with mutiplayer, im happy just the way it is.

Some extra content would be fine but I’m with Proteus, Dragon, and Wolverine. I buy games for there singleplayer anything else is just icing on an already delicious cake.
