PS3 Update Inbound Soon; VidZone Included
According to Jake Osuwah (Sony PR), we will be getting a PS3 update soon. We speculate that it will most likely arrive some time during E3, as VidZone is coming soon. He doesn’t mention if it is a firmware update, or something that will be in a PS Store update.
Jake mentions it twice on his very active twitter page:

Up until now VidZone has been discussed as a PAL territory only service, but due to it being mentioned by a SCEA PR rep, and its inclusion at E3, this makes the chances for the US to see this service very high. We have contacted Jake Osuwah, and are awaiting confirmation on a US release.
VG247 has reported that the service goes live on June 4th, and guess what? That is during E3 and a Thursday so that gives the likelihood of it being part of a PS Store update.

I think this was mentioned at last years Sony Corporate only annual meeting on looking forward for the years 2009-20011 on the PlayStation platform. It started with the Movie store and would continue with the Video store and now with the UK test a couple months ago on streaming video in their version of the Theatre. That was a precursor to upgrading the functions of the PS3 and in Home streaming video which would mean the ability to stream “Music” media into areas of Home that users are crying for…
We had a FW update last week and now the noise about a new Video service.

Thats some good news.
VidZone also works from your PSP using Remote Play. Wouldn’t be surprised if that makes it into the E3 Presser.

Aww man!! US getting this as well? They got video store exclusive, and we (EU) don’t even get a music service to ourselves? That’s so unfair!! lol just kiddin. i do live in the EU and i am very happy for my fellow ps3 friends in the states for getting this wonderful service. This is very cool, I just don’t watch many videos, if at all. lol. Updates are always great though!
This will be awesome unless the record companies flag the hell out of some of the videos like they do on my TiVo. ex: Some songs are flagged and can only be on the HDD for a short amount of time, like 3 days or so. Hopefully this won’t happen with this update.
Very nice. The video wouldn’t load for me but I read the descriptions. I’m really looking forward to this update.
