Just seemed like a better solution to ship it to Sony since they have the proper parts and tools. Unless they can't fix it then I made the wrong decision. @TheMadGreek

You can still have your PS3 serviced by Sony after warranty, just cost money. Right now I'm up to $162 with no guarantee. Not sure what will happen if they can't fix it. @shadow
