PSP Go/PS3 Slim Retail Box Comparison

Leaked photos of the PS3 Slim have hit the ‘net courtesy of Level up (see photo above), and while it has the fans and haters alike clamoring that it’s an obvious fake, we are quite sure that it is not.

Sony has long been wanting to reduce the cost of production of the highest priced console (well worth every penny) on the market out of the big three.  This will help turn more of a profit for Sony, and allow for price cuts down the line.

The pics shown by Level up are quite bad, and rightfully so people are calling it a fake.  However the one thing that really stands out, and has me believing it’s real is the shot of the box.

The box has a strikingly similar layout as the PSP Go box.  The logo on the bottom left hand side, along with the PSN logo, and memory capacity on the bottom right hand side.  Also the Sony, and PlayStation logos in each respective upper corners.  Lastly the colored XMB wave “stripe” across the middle of the box with the PS3/PSP layered over it is the same on each box, just using a different color for each box.

This certainly adds a great deal of weight to the PS3 Slim box possibly being authentic.  Wouldn’t you agree?

yeah it does.. i need to see the console before making a judgement… looks real but the PS3 system looks kinda bland and ugly almost basic looking ..

  2. Dan Massi says:

    I do agree.

And yes, I do see the similarities to both boxes. Especially the wave.

    Nice work, Anthony!

  3. SolidCake_ says:

looks legit to me,easy to believe that sony marketing is getting the box printed and ready for distribution in 3 or 4 months.

  4. Well, I don’t know… I’m staring at the retail box my PS3 came packed in, and not in one single place is it ever called a “PS3″. I’m too lazy to look it up, but does Sony even have a trademark on that phrase?

    Anyway, just sayin’.

E3 will be the beginning of the end for other consoles…

  7. Plopito says:

Well i guess this is the confirmation of the slim system. And for the PSPgo i don’t know if i’m going to get it, my fat model still works great.

  8. I certainly agree with you, Sev. Even though the scripts of “PSP GO” and the “PS3″ are slightly different, the rest of it looks authentic. I’m pleased that you’re the individual who’s been posting this news about the PS3 slim, as it lets me know you’re willing to risk your blog reputation to get the word out there and letting us know where you stand on the topic.
    5/5!

  12. im happy with sony’s policy and procedures. ALL their products always have good games, good support and a very LOW failure rate.

Anything new to the gaming industry is welcome…

    Im curious about ONLIVE.

  13. shadowjin says:

have you noticed towards the right side of the PS3 picture it cuts right at the edge of the PS3.. (where it folds) its kinda odd from a photograph point of view. when the box would be formed it would cut the edge of the picture off in the main PS3 towards the front right side. Assembled it would look off.

  14. Joshstork says:

Guys just a heads up but in case you havn’t heard the ps3 ‘slim’ is a fake, it had been dugged down by a site, and that the apparent lawyers in china was actually a university in america .

  15. Unless they can make a slim and release it for 250 dollars I don’t care.

    I want a PSP GO

  16. bassturd says:

    @capt. fodder

They have been using the PS3 logo instead of the full Playstation 3 in commercials now. After that new Infamous commercial is says “PS3″. Don’t think it looked like that font tho.

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments [...]
