According to The Examiner, Epic Games is set to announce a new horror game … exclusively to the PlayStation 3. Yes, you did read that right, an exclusive game from Epic Games, on PS3.  Other information has surfaced that refutes this.

The Examiner’s source also revealed that the game will utilize a more refined Unreal Engine 3 then in Gears of War 2. So, we can expect this game to look even better. The game is also set to release this winter, and will be announced at this year’s E3 convention.

Planet Gears of War has chimed in with an official word from Epic simply saying this is “False”.  At this point let the drama ensue and share with us your thoughts on the matter.

I do believe this is real, very few sites posted this.. (3)..

it would be funny if its real, all the x box fan boys will go nuts simply because its EPIC. from my point of view MS is getting stripped of content this year. they have NOTHING.

I don’t know about that. No one’s taken games away from MS. Its more of a case that they don’t have the studios to compete with Sony, especially now that they’ve gotten things going. They could get by with releasing their console early , and riding on the backs of 3rd parties, but that only gets you so far for so long. They’re definitely going to have some new games coming up from their first party studios, and a couple they’ve pinned down from 3rd parties. But whatever those announcements are, they won’t be able to outnumber Sony’s. They’re already buried by software releasing this fiscal year, not to mention the games we haven’t learned about for fiscal year 2010.

Things are only going to get more difficult as things go longer. As Sony gets closer to profitability, it permits them to pull the same strategy MS employs…pushing exclusive DLC, partnering with 3rd parties to make console specific games. (which could be this Epic game if true). MS is holding its cards close to its chest at E3 because it has to. Sony can show games and more games before E3 and still have surprises for the public. If MS did that, their E3 would be bare bones. But even then…E3 is just for “show” and presentation. The bottomline is content, and regardless of who presents well, it still comes down to content. Sony just has way more of it…leaked or nonleaked.

  3. More xbox drama huh? I’ll wait until we get something substantial.

they have no games to be taken away. i wrote that incorrect, i meant to say they have nothing and if they take away someone like epic (even if its not gears of war) its enough to cause a stir since thats the only game (outside of halo) that renown and been successful. Based on the designer. Some Xbox fans i know, think Epic is a MS company.

  6. Horror games are always welcome! I’m looking forward to their news.
